  1. Gordy will require a landing task to decide who is cabinet will be. (He
may not need advisors, but he DOES need someone to keep an eye on him)
  2. All press confrences will be timed with a talking timer and he will end
them all promptly..to get maximum points.
  3. Teddy Roosevelt used to challenge foreign heads of state to a boxing match
to settle issues, Gordy will require a fly off and he will make the foregin
heads of state use the world's heaviest Supra against his Ava. Calm conditions
only, off of a high start. Gordy likes the edge.
  4. Finally Gordy will have all of the trees around the white house removed so
he can launch from the front lawn.

  1. The Airforce will be required to fly all planes of every type inverted to
check each aircraft's CG.

  2. The Boy and Girl Scouts will be disbanded so all kids can start their LSF
levels.

  3. International squirmishes will be replaced with man on man flyoffs with
TWO popoffs allowed !

  4. The President's cabinet will be disbanded. Gordy doesn't need advisors !

  5. The White house will be repainted a 'Volz' blue.

  6. And you ?.

Re: [RCSE] Re: Launching Sanity

2007-12-23 Thread rmong

Don,

I noticed at the beginning of unlimited that almost all of
the line was off the drum, therefore we were launching with
approx a 2 dia. drum - was much more easy to control and
modulate the launch.

On a related note, the previous years' masters advertised
short lines - ( read larger drum dia. ) I wonder if this,
coupled with the high winds lead to some of the carnage .

One other thought. The winch setup at the Nats was excellent with
regard to reliability and uniformity. In addition, I did not find the
winches so powerful that they blew my hair back (at least what's left
of it).Perhaps someone who was responsible for the set up of these
winches would like to comment on the setup and what went into setting
them up.

At the Nats last year Jim Thomas takes the
mic and settles the crowd for a big announcement,
most pause to listen - he say's ' Gordy is on the field '
not more than 2 seconds later someone utters --
' has he popped off yet '. I guess these are the times I
remember about the Nats.

The reason I used Silicone II is that it does not release acetic acid when
it cures. However it does not seem to cure for me. I remember reading
here
that the Silicone II was ok for servos. Anyone have a solution for the
problem I'm encountering? I now know not to do what I did, but I did it
and now I need a remedy. Hlp!

Re: [RCSE] Carbon Pushrod Help!

2005-03-07 Thread rmong
John,

And yet another option -

I use Hysol 9460 a/b epoxy glue, also sold by Loctite.

Clean w/ alcohol, sand carbon rod and also the inside of
the brass fitting with a needle file - clean and dry again
before final assembly.

I did a 'hang test' on the assembly and it held 45 pounds
overnight, decided to load it to 80 pounds, my jig started
to come apart - figured I had a good joint at that point.

Re: [RCSE] Nyx F3J rearward CG location

2004-01-08 Thread rmong
Mehrdad,

I have flown 2 Nyx's (F3J, LT) both at 4.5 behind
the LE. For me this plane really came alive at this
CG. That said, you need to be careful with the plane
tucking, a good centering servo on the elev.
helped me out. Keep the Nyx moving between
thermals, a little full span camber while thermaling.
One of the best turning planes I've ever flown.
I think a 4.45 or 4.4 cg location would be safer to
use at great distances.

In light lift thermal soaring conditions...what are your opinions
wrt having a rearward CG for the Nyx? (by rearward CG, I mean any
location behind 4.2 inches of the wing root's LE)

Personally, I started out with the CG on my Nyx around 4.1 inches.
It was good, but I liked the way it flew better when I moved the CG
to the 4.2 inch location (as recommended on Tom's F3x.com site). Of
course, I'm now wondering how far back I could take the CG before it
adversely affects flight performance. Does anyone fly their Nyx with
the CG set around 4.5 inches behind the wing root's LE?

 Thanks in advance,
 Mehrdad
