Saturday I met up with Mad Dog Bullards and those Lump-yard slope dogs who prowl the "Lump" on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Lots of hot ships ripping up there for being in the Boone-docks. Trying to choose which was the 'best' sloper out there was a non stop point of discussion among us all. Mini Ellipse may be one of the finest all time in the 60" "sailplane" class slopers. It is just sooo cross talented. The Fun One is an unbelievable value! So much is done when you get it and besides being fast and cute, it has a dizzing roll rate. The ships owner had to tear his TX back out of my hands I was having sooo much fun. Got to fly Mike's MPX Lucky again and jeezzz! Seems illegal to have sooo much airplane for under $200! If you are thinking of a really great slope ship that can really grab a thermal then come down full vertical without worries of flutter or blow up, that Lucky is sweet. Also has a very excellent non-sailplane type of roll rate. Rig it with Spoilerons as they are very effective for dropping it on a spot in rotor. Zipper's and Bandits. What can be said that can possibly describe the raw energy retention and slippery-ness of these two ships. Sooo fast. Certainly the Zipper is the fastest little wing out there, but that Epp Bandit of Tom Copps is pretty close. I flew my Miss Piggy (Freda Plane) molded F3b beast and had a ball as well as my Synergy 5. I sure love that Synergy 5. Its T tail really looks stylish out there in that oh-so-common Vtail swarm that now populates the slopes.
