Re: [RCSE] IHLGF 2005 Final Scores
- Original Message - From: "Jerry Krainock" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Next is task 7 Sunday morning, How many points do you get if you get through to 1:45 and the winner of your heat gets to 2:00? Task for round seven was the ladder task. You try to fly flights of 15s 30s 45s 60s 75s 90s 105s 120s in that order. You get one point for each of the eight flights completed successfully. If the winner of the group gets all eight flights and you get only seven of them then your score is 7/8ths of 1000 or 875 points. A quick scan of the results shows that all scores for round seven are multiples of 1/8th of a 1000. This means that at least one person in every flight group made all eight flights. This does not come as a surprise since the air was quite good on Sunday morning this year. I flew in group B and timed in group C. There was a single thermal that sat in the same place for the entirety of both of those flight groups. Not only that but while I was flying all eight of my flights in that one stationary thermal just on the edge of the flying field there were other people using another thermal on the other edge of the field. I finished my eighth flight at 9:25 into the round doing fairly conservative "turnarounds". There was never any question about where to find lift for the next flight. [RCSE] IHLGF 2005 Final Scores
Hey Ron I looked for Brian Buaas on Sunday and couldn't find him. I was told he was there on Saturday and was not there on Sunday. How does he end up with 2 days worth of scores? Did someone else turn in scores on his Card? Next in task 7 sunday morning, How many points do you get if you get through to 1:45 and the winner of your heat gets to 2:00? BTW, worth noting that Photon II wins Old Guy for the 4th time in five years. Notable Free Flighter Martyn Cowley has taken up Hand Launch in his dottage and scored big time. [RCSE] IHLGF 2005 Final Scores
We have cleaned up our act and made the final score sheets easier to read and, for those picky ones out there that actually want to see all of the rounds posted, we have included all the pilots and all the rounds, even the Throw-out rounds. Thanks to all the pilots who attended, especially those who had to travel long distances to get here. "Thanks" is a little short of expressing our appreciation to those International pilots, all nine of you, who among other things, had to show a passport or visa to get here. What a great opportunity it is to be able to mix and mingle, talk and commiserate, listed and learn from such a broad range of talent from the width and breadth of the US to the four corners of the world. All this and fly HLGs for three days. It's hard to believe and yet it happens every year at the IHLGF. Next years dates: June 3-4, 2006. Hope to see you here! Ron Scharck IHLGF Registrar
