There's not a whole lot of slope options in New Orleans. There is only one die hard glider flyer in New Orleans.
You should be able to amuse yourself very easily with Mardi Gras celebrations which should be getting underway on those dates. Here is a parade schedule. http://www.mardigrasneworleans.com/schedule.html You would likely be interested in those on the "traditional" UPTOWN route. Check in with the front desk of the hotel to locate a decent place to watch the parades. A nice place to catch the afternoon/daylight parades is along St. Charles Ave. Never underestimate the importance of safety and common sense in New Orleans.
