Today was a gorgeous day in southern California
once the fog burned off. What made this day even better is the fact that the
second Sunday of each month is the SWSA monthly contest. While we waited for the
skies to clear, I passed out sheets of paper to all present. At the end of the
pilot's meeting I started the watch and gave everyone five minutes to design and
make a paper airplane. Can you imagine the sight of no less than 63 grown men
simultaneously throwing paper airplanes at me? Congratulations to Keith Kindrick
for the longest distance flown!
Next up was most likely the largest monthly club
contest you'll find anywhere with sixty-three entrants. And tough competition
too! Some guy named Joe stopped by and we were sure to keep him away from the
basketball backboards this time. We couldn't keep him out of the trophy pictures
though. See the unofficial scores at http://members.aol.com/PopOffSwsa/Gateway.html .
Come back later this week for the full write up in our fine newsletter.
Finally was our bi-monthly HLG contest run by Henry
Rodriguez. A small turnout but still great fun to watch. Yeah, Joe flew that
too, but for once today his trophy didn't have 1st Place on it as John
Erickson was able to sneak into the lead.
Like I said, a gorgeous day in southern
California............
