I put my Shadow 3 on sale on e-bay, in case there is any interest. I got it as a gift, but I don't have the synthesized transmitter to go with it. I tried programming it and it worked flawlessly. [RCSE] Shadow 3's are flying!
I have gotten emails from guys who got the new Shadow 3's and they say they are working! Always good news when it is about a brand new introduction...of anything :-) I saw guys at Toledo with their new thin, tiny Shadow 3's in their back pockets..substantial backpockets. I could just imagine surface mount parts popping off like fleas! ;-( I can't wait for the gremlins to show up on these things...it will give the RCSE naysayers fodder for posting and will keep them away from the flying fields with their oh so difficult to see synth module dials :-) Seriously though, looks like itsa great start for the Shadow3's. Each one is tested with a Tx and Servo situation before going in the package. I think it was Aroosh who mentioned that after all the science stuff was done (mechanicals like cold and hot and vibration) they took the ones they sent me and threw them on the ground a few time really hard ( I was wondering how the shrink tubing got scuffed!) to see if some circuit would open or something would break off. Good thing they are whimpy Canadian boys :-) Mine is in my Kennedy Composites Blaster DLG and I had a chance to fly it Monday on a sod farm for about 20 tosses...and bumps. So far it works :-)Gordy Tullahoma TN or bustgreat weather for the weekend! ;-)

Does the Shadow 3 receiver require reprogramming every time power is turned off? Is this a possibility? The manual recommends checking the failsafe before every flight. According to Sombra, the Shadow 1 is not discontinued, but it will be updated and improved when it starts shipping again hopefully late Feb early Mar. Both the Shadow 1 and Shadow 3, will continue to be manufactured. I have to say the march of technology within our hobby is simply unbelievable. It has gotten to the point, for me, that purchasing hobby supplies is a bit like buying a new computer... wait a few months on a computer and you can get something faster and cheaper. With our hobby technology (except for planes) you can get something much smaller, lighter and potentially better for not much more money if you just wait 6 months or so. I am still kicking myself for buying a fast charger and NiMH batteries about 6 months before LiPos became well established! :-) For $89 if you have a Evo or one of the other synthesized TX modules this can't be beat, IMHO. Very impressive and apparently easy to use as well. I wonder what is coming out next... I have to spend some more time browsing different sections of RCGroups besides the Thermal and Sailplane Talk forums for some more up and coming info. TheSky and Technology SRX is another promising RX. The first release was recalled due to some bad components that were supplied by a vendor, but most of the units performed extremely well even with someone else ON YOUR FREQUENCY!!! I had a few of them, you program them by putting them close to your TX antenna and then powering up. They filter by locking on the unique characteristics of your TX signal.
