Seems to me that way or using the original way I just read is a lot safer.
If anyone sees a large plume in southern Arizona that's just Daryl
attempting to soak his mono line.

Hi All,
Most in NZ would appear to soak and store their mono in water.
For club use we tend towards SHOGUN 1.28mm and competition we use SPEED LINE
1.28 and less
Regards,
John.

I don't understand how surface tension reduction (I'll assume) by adding
Downey would have any benefit.

Re: [RCSE] mono soaking

2005-07-31 Thread Simon Van Leeuwen
Nylon being hygroscopic will absorb up ~8% water. The addition of water
allows the material's long chain molecular structure to stretch to a
greater degree without breaking. The other benefit is that the line
will return to a greater degree back to it's original length.

This becomes critical in FAI where line length needs to be some value
than 150M...just in case officialdom wants to measure your line length.

I used to soak all my nylon props to increase safety many many moons ago.
