RE: [RCSE] subscribe soaring digest end

Hi Pepper,

It is also worth saying that it is likely that you are sending your request
in html format. I assume this because your messages are coming across in a
stylized font.

Pepper,
You gotta get up to speed on this!!
Now that you have the text down, now you have to get the address
right. Follow along closely please.
In the To: box type then add the text that
Mike instructed you with, which you got right 3 times.
Can you hand this now?? Good luck.

The following links should prove useful for those having trouble
unsubscribing or posting messages;

http://www.eclipse.net/~mikel/rcse/rcse.htm

http://home.earthlink.net/~bobbau/email/avoiding-html/

Pepperkay has been sending his request to the wrong email address. He should
be sending his request to:

soaring-request@airage.com

I can't believe that my internet illiterate self was the one who had to post
this but I do remember a few years back when I struggled with the same
questions and the same AOL issues.

Phil

PS for Pepperkay: Why not just keep the regular non-digest version. With
Outlook Express you can set up different email folders and have mail from
certain addresses automatically sent to a particular folder. I'm guessing
you might use AOL email and maybe the latest version of AOL can do this
also. If so you just set up an RCSE folder and have all RCSE messages sent
there. I also have a folder for each of the YAHOO groups that I follow. I
can then scan the message subject lines for the messages in each folder. In
the case of RCSE I only open a small percentage of the messages that look
interesting. I then delete the entire folder contents with a couple clicks.
If I see some rare message worth saving I can move it to a permanent folder
somewhere else.

I've never been subscribed to the digest version before but I did once end
up with a copy of one of those digested messages. I can see how annoying
those things are when people don't delete all the old stuff but rather just
keep replying with all the previous comments attached below. You then need
to scroll through the whole mess of the digested message to see if there is
anything worth reading. With individual emails you never have to even open
the messages that are not about a topic that interests you.

A pet peave about digest version users: The folder system with individual
emails works great...except when a digest version user posts something
and then the subject line only says: "RE: digest number soandso". That
forces me to open it to see what its really about or maybe just delete it
since odds are it is of no interest. Out of compassion for your fellow RCSE
users why not stay with the individual emails and don't become another
bothersome digest user, unless you only intend to lurk.

Re: [RCSE] Subscribe - Unsubscribe

2006-02-13 Thread Michael Lachowski

Welcome to aoh-ll

One thing that is important is to put in two lines in the message

subscribe soaring digest
end

The send line with end is important. It prevents any extra text in the
message like signatures from being interpreted as commands.

Second issue is to get mail programs to not send MIME or HTML messages.
All the extra junk confuses things.

[RCSE] Subscribe to RCSE

1999-12-24 Thread Bruce & Sandy Herider

Can someone give me an exact example of how the verifying message should
look, i.e. is it

subscribe or what.

I have a friend who's trying to get in but can't get the right combination.
I remember I had trouble when I first tried and my wife finally did it
right-- we forgot what that was.

This is for RCSE and not digest.

Thanks,

Bruce
