[RCSE] Glider Bag choices?

2004-12-16 Thread John Fruge
I just picked up a new sailplane (3 piece wing) and wanted to know what venders
are still selling bags these days. The Bag Lady link I have is not working and
I got a message back from Jim bags saying he has sold the business.

If you know if any links for bag venders please let me know.

Thanks,

John Fruge

Hi John,
We have just started producing our Plane Packs again. I'll have some
pictures on the net in the next couple of week and have a couple I can
e-mail you if you'd like. The Plane Packs are designed for a 2 or 3 piece
wing (you specify when you order) and will hold wing panels up to 65.

Please let me know if you'd like more information.
Happy flying,
Jim

Re: [RCSE] Glider Bag choices?

2004-12-16 Thread Jack Harper
Separator/cushion is easy. Just cut up a 5$ sleeping bag pad from
WallyMart, the light blue ones are good for this. I use these to get two
three piece wings in a regular sailplane bag with all the parts separated
and padded. Really helps the hangar rash.

The snow board bags are great, and they are way more rugged than the
sailplane bags. For travel to the field they work well.

But, I would not ship in one of these, because your sailplane will not take
near the abuse that a snow board will, and the baggage guys have been known
to break/damage snow boards. They may think your ship is a snow board -
and handle it that way.

Here's an interesting alternative if you just need to store the
 wings...

These bags, some of which are padded, are for snowboards (single
compartment) so you'd have to come up with your own wing panel
seperator/cushion but that shouldn't be difficult (foam, bubble wrap,
etc.) Some are 165 cm (64) and others are 180 cm (70). The price
 is definitely right!

 Just a idea.

I'm sure they thinks it's a snowboard, plus you give them those nice
handles to get a hold of and give it the old heave oh!

You guys have some pretty pricey taste in bags. I always got along pretty
well with a good old black Hefty. Sometimes you gotta be careful when you stuff

the remains of your plane in one, the broken off ends of the spars can poke
holes in them.

Re: [RCSE] Glider Bag choices

2004-12-16 Thread AMA3655
I get them in the large boxes. I need 'em.

Whenever I finish a new plane I fold a hefty bag up neatly and tape it
inside the fuselage. That way I have one handy when I need it. I wish I could
find
a really tiny shovel that would fit in the plane - it would save a trip back
to the truck when I plant one really deep. I hate to leave a battery buried
in the field, it ain't environmentally kerrect.
