Sounds like the weak little fuse holder needs to be tighted up a bit. This happened
to my 8103.

I have, of course, lost my list of names for JR repair service. What's

last repair experience was less than pleasing, but I'm not naming names.
I'll just ignore that suggestion this time around.

2001-06-11 Thread Dennis Phelan

Greetings,
Horizon has done all all the work on my JR's. They found a cracked solder
connnection for me. They've been good on time and cost of repairs and tuneups.

I did also have a fuse holder with insufficient holding power.

Re: [RCSE] JR Radio Repair...we have a winner...

At 06:13 AM 6/11/2001 -0400, a lot of people wrote:

I, at first, scoffed at this idea, since I went in and checked the fuse a
number of times. The fuse was good, and it snapped into place nicely each
time I was done.

But in thinking further about it ... snapping into place, and fitting in
place *are* 2 different things. So, I went in and bent the prongs on the
fuse hold together, snapped the fuse back into place, and viola'...we have
a functioning radio, and all the previous symptoms have disappeared. Seems
solid as a rock now.

My thanks to all for the suggestion. (And, by the way, the most popular
referral for repair service was Horizon.)

Re: [RCSE] JR Radio Repair...we have a winner..second verse

2001-06-11 Thread Les Grammer

Some people wanted additional info. the radio was a JR 8103, and the fuse
carrier is located by removing the frequency module. The fuse is just
inside and to the bottom after removing the module.

The second most popular repair reference was Kraft Midwest (advertised in
  RCReport).

By the way...*all* the references I received had some positive and negative
aspects related about them.
