Re: [RCSE] Re: template material choices?

2005-03-28 Thread Dan Borer
I just take the .pdf on a CD to FedEx Kinko's and have it printed full size
on their paper. Lay it out on the foam, follow the edges carefully while
cutting the first time and it can't get much cheaper than that. Store the
cut plans carefully and just lay them on the foam again when it's time to
cut another one. It sounds like I may have a few more friends than you and I
have cut lots of Edges, Sukhois, Ultimates, Pitts' and Extras for them, plus
a bunch of each for me.

Dan

I'm making a foamy electric pusher F-18 from plans by 3d Foamy. I have
full
size templates I downloaded and printed out to use when cutting fan fold
foam.
What's the best template material in terms of a workable compromise
between
workability, durability, accuracy and cost? I think PC board material
would be
overkill, it's only blue foam, even if I make three sets of spares, I
think
it's going to be used for all of an hour to make up all the components,
but
should the worst happen, I guess I would have them on file to pull out,
but not
often. Then there's the remote possibility friends might wanna use them
too...

run around the edges or something? The wing is a flat plate, the fuse
shapes
are all pretty square, this "should" be a simple process...
