Also try disabling the following dlls in factory softimage installation
folder by renaming:

C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Softimage 2012\Application\bin
QtCore4.dll
QtGui4.dll
QtOpenGL4.dll
QtXml4.dll

I made a web page (plus a local web server if you want a fancier setup) that 
does a search of certain assets in my server and display them with a HTML tag 
of  pointing to the file... And all I did is drag and drop them into 
Softimage. I remember I even went to the extent of setting up a local database 
server to handle the checkins and outs of these assets.

It works like how the old NetView works with the models and addons all 
available on softimage.net...

Yes you need to use an drag event and drop event. If toi need some help i
