2011-04-20 Thread Hans de Goede

Hi All,

I'm happy to announce the first 0.8.x spice bugfix
release 0.8.1, as well as the first 0.8.x release of
the agent.

* spicec-x11: Work around a bug in xsel
* spicec-x11: Don't crash on apps sending bad atoms as TARGETS
* server: Make copy paste support configurable
* server: Various fixes to agent - client data handling

Changes in spice-vdagent-0.8.0:

(Marc-André Lureau and Hans de Goede)
* Autotoolized (Christophe Fergeau)
* Allow building without consolekit, for systems which don't have ck, such
  as RHEL-5 (Christophe Fergeau)
* Various small bugfixes (Hans de Goede)

You can download source tarbals for spice-0.8.0 and spice-protocol 0.8.0 here:

Re: [Spice-devel] problem with sound when using spice and virt-manager

2011-04-20 Thread Lubos Kocman
Hello Vojtech,

to be honest from the output it looks like a libvirt issue.
I suggest you to report this in ubuntu bugzilla against libvirt.

You have basically three options:

1) report it in bugzilla and wait for fix

2) try spice without virt manager

3) try fedora 15 beta or wait for final release (virt manager with spice works
for me in fedora15)

Lubos

Subject: [Spice-devel] problem with sound when using spice and virt-manager

Hello,
I want to run virtual machine on my ubuntu 10.10. I'm blind so I'm using
orca as a screen reader.
I wanted to use virt-manager which is packaged with ubuntu, but I can't
get sound working and I heart that in spice sound is working well.
So I downloaded packages from debian wheezy and installed them.
I'm using:
libvirt-bin 0.9.0~rc2
virt-manager 0.8.7
qemu-kvm with spice support 0.14.0
spice-client 0.8.0
these versions are from debian packages.
When I try to start my vm, and spice is set as display, nothing happens.
There is just creatinv virtual machine, progress stops at about 50%.
When I try to restart my screenreader to get speech again, this error
pops up:
Can't finish installation: 'internal error Process exited while reading
console log output: char device redirected to /dev/pts/2

Re: [Spice-devel] problem with sound when using spice and virt-manager

2011-04-20 Thread Scott Dowdle
Greetings,

- Original Message -
I wanted to use virt-manager which is packaged with ubuntu, but I

So far as I know, SPICE support in libvirt and virt-manager has only been in
for a few weeks... and Fedora only offers it in their virt-preview repo that
allows Fedora 14 users to pull packages from the upcoming Fedora 15. My point
is that Fedora is usually much more bleeding edge than Ubuntu so I'd be
surprised if Ubuntu offered libvirt and virt-manager with SPICE support
already... unless they are really on the ball... or have a preview repo you are
using? I'm just guessing though.

Non-virt-preview repo users of Fedora won't get the updated packages until
Fedora 15 is released which is supposed to be the middle of May... or someone
decides to give the beta or later test releases a try.

TYL,

[Spice-devel] virt-manager - forget my problem

2011-04-20 Thread Vojtěch Polášek

Hello,
I recently found another way of playing audio from vm. Just set qemu to
use your local sound system instead of vnc or spice.

This works for me so I'm leaving this problem as it is.
Thank you for your replies,
Vojta
