As you may know (thanks to World of Radio and DX Listening Digest), I (with
Glenn Hauser's help) publicized a few "rules of engagement" for HM01 (the Cuban
Lady Numbers Station which can be found at frequencies from 5855 to 13435 and
beyond on SW). Those "rules" were FLOUTED earlier today (starting with the
first number set on the first broadcast heard today -- 13435 @ 07 UT) -- the
broadcast began with "56792" (shocking enough that the first number for
12/30/13 was 80583, this number isn't even close to the expected 80584). The
entire sequence is below:
56792 (my first heard "9"-- a "nuevo" series triggering a "nuevo" set of
sequences for a "nuevo ano" -- "new year"-- or so it seems to me)

37674
18655 (note the three middle numbers in groups 2 - 4 read together are "666", a
number which has had sinister connotations for two millenia; perhaps this is a
danger sign for the new year)
62113
66163 (almost another '666'; danger upon danger?)
Almost ALL of "the rules" I thought I knew were broken today:
1) None of these new numbers ends with a "1", even though they are all new
numbers.
2) We have a sequence featuring a "9" (I did mention that 9 -- "nueve" sounds a
lot like "nuevo", thus could be used in a 'nuevo' sequence [for a 'nuevo' year
with 'nuevo' rules], so this may save this 'rule'.
3) The broadcast was surprisingly short (25 minutes per segment instead of the
usual 27 minutes -- timed based on the second segment of the 07 UT broadcast,
which ran from 727 UT - 752 UT after a nearly 4 minute break from the end of
the first transmission)
There are three possibilities for why this broadcast was what it was:
1) The "Cuban Spy Network" was put on high alert based on events such as the
"suicide bombings" in Russia, Cuba's long time ally going back to the 1950s OR
2) These programs are run on a "tape loop" after they are put together by
persons unknown -- someone pulled out an OLD tape loop and #1 is simply too
much paranoia on my part OR
3) These programs are run "live" (after all, there has to be SOMEONE around to
change the transmission frequency and perhaps the direction of radiation) and
whoever puts these programs together is aware of my getting "the rules" out
into the public airwaves and print (via World of Radio and DX Listening
Digest), so they wanted to show that I really don't know "their rules" after
all -- just a little tweak to show that THEY are in charge. (Or is this
assuming too much of HM01's "staff": that they actually listen to what one lone
guy with a cheap radio can come up with about them and try to show that he’s
not correct…)
We'll see later on if we go back to the 12/30 numbers, these numbers, or a new
set of numbers for January 1, 2014. Consider this post a potential warning for
Cuban DXers (if no one else)-- if the rules of "the game" have been changed,
those of us on the outside maybe totally rendered unable to "play the game"
(spoken in tones of Triple H's entry music -- especially since he is now 'The
Authority' in the WWE)
