Re: Old sprinklers

2021-04-08 Thread BRUCE VERHEI via Sprinklerforum
It wouldn’t be unlikely that this was offered as an alternative to some code
requirement. One-hour corridor construction, including separation? At later
date it’s a done deal, unless you want to propose a new building plan review
for fire and life safety. I doubt your customer wants to hire an architect and
submit a building permit application.

Best.

Question for the group. I recently did an inspection at a very old McDonalds
restaurant in town. During inspection found 4 sprinkler heads piped off
domestic protecting the rear corridor leading the exit access. I found nothing
in the old file showing this installation. I do realize that maybe when it was

Tom,

Seeing that you are in Illinois, it may be helpful to mention that the
Illinois Plumbing Code allows up to 20 heads to be directly connected to
the domestic water system. There are other requirements in the Plumbing
Code, which can be found in Section 890.1130.

Unfortunately, I don't know why they did this at this McDonalds, which I
think is what you are asking.

This may have been approved by the local AHJ, which would be the
appropriate assumption based on NFPA 25. We are not doing a design
