Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS Volume control
Hi pippin Many thanks for this info, and the tip to read up about Squeezelite. Is this documentation in the wiki: http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Squeezelite ?? ... or did you mean to look elsewhere? Meanwhile, I found that bit-perfect volume control requires that you add some bits ... so that if f.eks. Squeezelite uses 32 bit representation, it should be able to do bit-perfect volume control, as explained here: http://www.esstech.com/files/3014/4095/4308/digital-vs-analog-volume-control.pdf Cheers, Claus cfuttrup's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=32784 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109866 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

But why bother - depending on the OS much of disk access is pre-fetched & cached and LMS/Perl also buffers of lot of a file access in RAM. Some new drive have Intel Optane support and if you are really worred about motors and heads moving use an SSD or USB stick. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109882 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

As iPeng is iOS based you need to recognise that PPTP based VPN is a no no but I can confirm that L2TP is still ok but my preferred method is SSL VPN Tunnel as I use a high end Draytek router that supports this (along with PPTP, L2TP and Ipsec). You need a separate app on the iPhone to set up the SSL connection but once done it appears in the standard VPN part of Settings. A decent router is a very worthwhile investment. As suggested, try and use LMS in the normal manner (scan your library to ingest the files, then browse using the artist or album LMS menu rather than the music folder. This is just as a test to see if something odd is going on with "music folder" approach. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] C-3PO plugin, a trnscoding helper.
Strange situation. I always used C-3PO plugin only for transcoding DSD files. Recently I set up C-3PO for transcoding 32/384 to 24/192 too. It works, but LMS shows that bitrate from 10726 kbps is converted to '705 kbps FLAC'. What does it mean? I want it to be transcoded to 24/192. 26240 And, at the moment, transcoding DSD files does not work anymore, although I did not change settings for DSD. Why is that? Is it possible to have transcoding DSD files to PCM 24/88 *and* transcoding 32/384 to 24/192 depending on source file? +---+ |Filename: IMG_20181213_081616.jpg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=26240| +---+ Valky's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=68594 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105309 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Yes it is abnormal so to fix it you need to try some of the suggestions. As mentioned earlier, browsing by music folder is not the "best" way to use LMS - for new files it can kick off other processing activities such as a scanner which when coupled with some forms of security s/w can slow a system down. Is the OS up to date? When Microsoft rolls out updates, these get installed automatically. Sometimes it is wise to do an extra reboot. Maybe that can help.
