Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Logitech Media Server 7.9.1 is out!

2019-01-18 Thread mark wollschlager

I seem to be running into a problem of sorts with 7.9.1 on my readynas
516.
LMS works, but I am having trouble installing or changing plugins.
It looks like missing Perl modules. I tried to add them with CPAN and
got other errors.
Sadly I am one of those guys who goes for easy answers and stalls out
when it gets too messy.
Is it possible that the logitechmediaserver_7.9.1_all.deb would have a
more complete set of perl than logitechmediaserver_7.9.1_amd64.deb?
There are errors when I try to install or change plugins.:

I've not done anything serious with my ReadyNas for nearly 8-years, but
from memory it had limited memory for the OS. I have nearly 20,000 music
files, and my first response is that it's out of memory. I need to spend
sometime on it, but it's not a priority for me at the moment.

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS vs SSD

2019-01-18 Thread Roland0

- If you are concerned about the durability of your SD card / USB stick,
you might want to use the 'F2FS' (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F2FS)
file system, which has been designed to extend the lifetime of flash
devices. As a bonus, 'performance should increase'
>From the article:
> For the SQLite benchmark F2FS shows significantly better performance
> than the other filesystems and outperforms EXT4 by 2x.
which is highly relevant, as LMS uses SQLite.

- If you put the OS or application data (e.g. cache) on a SD card, make
sure to use a 'A1 certified'
(https://www.sdcard.org/developers/overview/application/index.html) one
(e.g. SanDisk Extreme R100), this will improve performance considerably.

2019-01-18 Thread digimaster

To help you, i realy need to logs when you have installed version
02.03.05.
Sure i chanced something between those version, but thats regarding
getting to correct path for QLogitechMediaServer.
In you're case the strange thing is, it runs proper but is missing LMS
in the chroot root.
But as the layout is the same, as outside the chroot, if it was realy
missing there would be another error.
Also please send the output of ./QLogitechMediaServer.sh config

The READ-Me file, can also be read in the forum.
'READ-Me-file'
(https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?108702-QLogitechMediaServer-for-Qnap-with-QTS-4-2-or-higher-and-x86_64-I686-X86-support-!=931294=1#post931294)

The packets can be found on the QNap club store website
'QNap Clud Store, QLogitechMediaServer'

At the right bottom, the downloads are found.
There you can find it
As you're QNap has a Marvell 1.6GHz Processor cpu, you should uses
either arm-x09/19 or the arm-x41 packets.
That depends a bit, on the output of uname -m
arm5te* arm-x09/19
armv7/armhf arm-x41

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] QLogitechMediaServer for Qnap with QTS 4.2 or higher and x86_64/I686/X86 support !

2019-01-18 Thread digimaster

Luckly now you also give the logfile, so i could find the trouble.
Its the charset options, it seems you're QNap is missing the locales
environment variables.
At startup it uses the LANG varible to start LMS with the proper support
on you're QNap.
Thats missing in you're case, and thats very strange would suggested to
investigated that on you're QNap, as its very important also for other
QPKG packets.
To fix you're trouble with QLogitechMediaServer, go in ssh to the
.qpkg/LogitechMediaServer directory.
The edit the file .QLMS.conf, chance the option #CHARSET="" to
CHARSET="en_US.UTF-8". and safe the file.
Now do ./QLogitechMediaServer.sh restart. And you should be able to use
LMS, after a few minutes.
This will start LMS proper, as it was crashing, on the missing locales.

Due to you're error, gone have a look to included a fix for this in the
next release.
But check you're setup as well, as the locales are important in Linux,
because it tells the system which country, langues and time setting to
uses.
