Just one thing (I know @bpa gave you a solution already) but audio/ogg
is not the wrong mimetype for opus. Ogg is a container. You should have,
as pointed by @bpa "audio/ogg;codecs=opus" as mimetype.
BTW, did you try a more recent version of squeezelite? @ralphy has
integrated a while ago my patch to support opus natively w/o transcoding

@bpa: This makes the stream playable. But I take it, this is not the
right way advertising an opus sream?

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Stream does not play (most of the time)

2020-04-07 Thread bpa

YOu can nake the opus stream playable if you create a custom-types.conf
file in same directory as types.conf
The custom-type.conf file should have the content

Code:

  ogg ogg,oga audio/x-ogg,audio/ogg,application/x-ogg audio
  ops opusapplication/ogg,audio/opus,audio/ogg;codecs=opus audio

This moves the MIME type "application/ogg" from an OGG stream to an OPUS
stream.

This means your OPUS will play but other "application/ogg" stream will
now not play.

The 256kbps AAC stream has much higher bitrate than 64kbps OPUS and so
should be much better quality.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Stream does not play (most of the time)

2020-04-07 Thread ruediger.kupper

Hi!
I have problems playing my favorite music station's streams.
If I try opening the URLs published on their page from LMS, this is what
regularly happens:
- LMS tries opening the stream
- after 3–5 seconds, it gives up and stops

However, very rarely, it works(!). I could not determine the reason, nor
why it sometimes succeeds. Success rates seem to be a little higher with
mp3, while the opus stream virtually never plays (but there were cases
when it did …)

The first thing I noticed was that these URLs are redirects, but things
are no different trying to open the redirection target directly. Then
Michael pointed out that the web server is misconfigured – it reports
the wrong MIME type at least for the opus stream (ogg). But I don't
think this can be the reason, as playback succeeds from time to time?

Any idea what is going wrong with these streams?

Thanks for this info

Code:

 sudo cat /proc/mounts

gave me

> /dev/sda1 /media/pi/9A8E6EB98E6E8E17 fuseblk
> rw,nosuid,nodev,relatime,user_id=0,group_id=0,default_permissions,allow_other,blksize=4096

I did

Code:

sudo chmod -R 775 /dev/sda1 /media/pi/9A8E6EB98E6E8E17

I'm not sure if I needed pi/9A8E6EB98E6E8E17 but i can play with that
later.

This is my fstab

Code:

proc/proc procdefaults 0 0
  PARTUUID=ea7d04d6-01  /boot   vfatdefaults  0   2
  PARTUUID=ea7d04d6-02  /   ext4defaults,noatime  0   1
  /dev/sda1 /media ntfsdefaults0 0
  # a swapfile is not a swap partition, no line here
  # use dphys-swapfile swap[on|off] for that

Code:

sudo cat /proc/mounts

now gives

> /dev/sda1 /media fuseblk
> rw,relatime,user_id=0,group_id=0,allow_other,blksize=4096 0 0

And I'm thinking I could maybe mount the usb disk just using the
PARTUUID, I'll give that a try at another time.

Cheers

I prefer to do this through fstab, but setting the permissions should be
similar if you are using the automount, I think.

First, you need to find where the disk is mounted: sudo cat
/proc/mounts

For me, this looks like: /dev/sda1 /mnt/hd1 ext4 rw,noatime 0 0

Then change permissions: sudo chmod -R 777 /mnt/

I created the /mnt/ directory, so automount probably uses a different
mount point and you will need to change /mnt/ to whatever you see with
the cat command.

If you're not comfortable using 777 for the permissions, you'll have to
decide for yourself the permissions you prefer.

I played with a VPN when setting up remote streaming, but I decided that
a far easier solution was to set up a portable server based on a WD
Passport wireless drive. I periodically make a copy of my main music
library to the WD Passport drive. I don't find its battery life good
enough, so I usually run it from a USB mains adapter or a power brick.

You could replace your router with one that has the VPN server built in.
If you went that route I’d recommend a Draytek Vigor as it supports L2TP
and SSL based VPNs both of which will work with an iPhone. (PPTP will
not work as Apple have removed support).

I am pretty certain that when you bring up a VPN on an iPhone it does
not route ALL traffic to your home but only the needed connection in
this case iPeng.

The above combination works well.

So, the question is where to now. I'm keen to pursue iPeng & LMS as a

installing a VPN server, but I'm a bit hesitant. Firstly, because I've

You are right, i begin to doubt what the condition was when it worked.
It works when I mount the drive with fstab, but automount does not
work.
And I tried with all kinds of solutions (udevel, devmon, usb-boot ... )
But I have also have a no-go to boot from USB3 with the boot part on SD
and the root on USB3, which was working nicely on the Pi3.

The Pi4 has a huge problem with USB3, reading their own forum.
Not only with booting from USB, also speeds and which brand of
controller the USB/SATA bridge is.

The PCIe / USB3 has not been ready when the PI4 launched, and is after
more then a half year later still not ready.

On my server several transcoding processes are running (flac, lame). CPU
is almost 100%.
When I start the LMS the transcoding starts over again, hence there must
be some kind of queue.
So had to stop LMS.

ASUS P6-P5G41E W10 x64 1903 | LMS 7.9.3-1584993250 | 5 SB Radios | 1 SB
