Agree 100%. I've been using Squeezeboxen since ~2007 and I have never
wanted to use anything else. Sad that Logitech stopped production but
grateful that they continue to sponsor the server and this discussion.
There is no better streaming server, IMO. And it does keep getting
better and better. Still hoping for a *simple* *secure* integration with
Amazon Music without opening ports to the internet. And a *simple*
*secure* way to access my server away from home. But I still use this
server every day. I only wish I had the knowledge to contribute to the
software, but I truly appreciate those who do!

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] 200 Playlist Limit on 8.0?

2020-08-25 Thread Slackerini

Michael, Somehow I fixed it... I wiped my install over the weekend and
started fresh from a clean RPi install and all my playlists seem to
appear for both iTunes and Spotify.

I also figured out the >200 Spotify playlists was due to a bunch of
playlists that are nested in folders... Saw there are some settings
around hierarchical playlists, but given I rarely play those playlist...
I'll just leave as is for now and play via Spotify Connect or search for
them if necessary.

Thanks again for all the help and work you do for the community!!!

Ok, my piCorePlayers Version:

piCorePlayer 4.1.0
Squeezelite v1.9.0-1121-pCP

too old?

The newer piCorePlayer versions had/have(?) trouble with the combination
of ir-remote (LIRC) and a rotary encoder/button tool (sbpd).

Just tested 7.9.1 - No Problems with repositories-crash (?!) or
soft-off. Maybe my workaround for today.

I'm certain you don't want my shell script! It's more than 400 lines
long, although a large percentage of those lines are commented out. But
I really didn't know what I was doing when I started it, and it's
debatable if I know any better now, after several years of cobbling
together various workarounds.

It might be possible to come up with a much simpler way to trigger the
keepawake routine, using the PlayLog plugin. The EventTrigger plugin
might be even better, but it is not yet compatible with LMS 8.

My practice was to run the keepawake routine whenever LMS was playing,
even radio streams. I have the impression, never rigorously verified,
that spin-up problems can occur when transitioning from a radio stream
to local music.

definitive ideas, I will stay with LMS 7.8.1.

Get the latest 7.9.3 release: https://www.mysqueezebox.com/download,
install it on top of what you have. The issue you're seeing is the
reason why I released 7.9.3 a few days ago.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS 7.9.2 does not start automatically on Windows 10 Version 2004

2020-08-25 Thread HikeForFood

I have had LMS 7.9.2 running on three different Windows 10 machines on
three different networks with no problems for a long time. But then one
by one, all three instances suddenly stopped loading automatically, even
though under Control Panel -> Status -> Startup Options the setting was
always Automatically Run at Login. The only way to get LMS to start,
and stay running, was to change this setting to Don't Start
Automatically, and then start manually as the Administrator. But even
this approach seemed buggy, because I would have to click the Start
button, sit for 30 seconds while LMS started, and then stopped on its
own, and then click the Start button a second time. Only after clicking
Start a second time would LMS keep running.

Eventually, what I discovered is that this problem started when the
Windows 10 version was updated from 1909 to 2004. I tried re-installing
LMS 7.9.2 under Windows version 2004 many times, but I always obtained
the same result. What I also eventually discovered is that the problem
goes away if I install instead LMS 7.8.1-1452060482, an older version
that I have lying around. So now I have LMS 7.8.1 running under Windows
version 2004 on all three networks, and everything is working normally
again, with startup set to Automatically Run at Login.

I searched the forum expecting to find that others were were
experiencing this same problem, but I could not find anything similar.

I would like to return to LMS 7.9.2, or even 7.9.3, but I need the
startup to work properly. So for now, unless someone has some
definitive ideas, I will stay with LMS 7.8.1.

Thank you.

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Maximum library size on Logitech Media Server

2020-08-25 Thread GroundLoop

This new machine is an i7 7700 with 64 gigs ram and 4 SSD drives. We use
it for a web server, file sharing, etc. Hosts multiple VM's. The 2TB mp3
drive is a Western Digital green bought maybe 8 or 9 years ago and is in
an external USB cradle.

The command(s) in question:

Code:

while true; do echo "$(date)" > "/keepawake.txt"; sleep 120;
done &

The simple answer is that I run that command manually whenever I start
to work with files on a network HDD. The command runs in the background,
so when the work is finished, I recall it to the foreground and kill it
with CTRL-C.

The more complicated answer is that it used to be part of an elaborate
shell script that runs on the LMS server and extracts current Now
Playing information for for "disc jockey" displays that show the current
time, temperature and what's playing at several locations around the
house. I now know that there are easier ways to get that information
through plugins, but I was unaware of what could be done with plugins
when I wrote it.

It's done on the web interface of PiCoreplayer: Squeezlite Setiings -
Power On/Off GPIO.

Had some google'ing this morning for a working power-down script, but no
luck. Only found started "projects" without end or dead links.
Same on my first tries on a shell script (i am a Windows guy) - given
up. This would be a too long way for me.

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] 7.9.3 and 8.0 "fade out time" Parameter?

2020-08-25 Thread Aki7

Hi Michael,

7.9.2 (fine): was the non-nightly :
Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.2 - 1575296326 @ Mon Dec 2 15:38:15
WEST 2019
(and all possibly proposed Updates of 7.9.2)

7.9.3 (bug): all testet nightly Versions and the yesterday proposed
Upgrade from 7.9.2 to 7.9.3, which is currently running:
Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.3 - 1597753178 @ Sun Aug 23 19:15:28
WEDT 2020

i have reproduced the bug on other clean test installs. 7.9.2 is fine
(but crashes with the repository issue) - 7.9.3 breaks the piCorePlayer
Power Off GPIO (in all possible player settings concerning the fading).

The *changelog of 7.9.3* mentioned some changes on fading behavior:

"*Allow fade-in for squeezeplay client that don't handle it locally when
< 1s* (thanks philippe44!)"

maybe this "fix" needs some more testing :-) The old (buggy) behavior of
the fading would save me.

What is the file system on the external hdd?

Perhaps adding a group membership could fix the problem.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Permission

2020-08-25 Thread davidscrat

hi,
i have a problem with database.
My hdd is mount on pi4 wich has lms with ubuntu 20.4.
First scan was ok.
But i can't see files i add after.
and new scan gives nothing, the lms database doesn't see it.

i tried to check permission with ls -dl /mnt/maxtor/musique
drwxrwxr-x 179 ubuntu lms 20480 Aug 23 06:44 /mnt/maxtor/musique

well ok
if i use sudo chown -R ubuntu:lms /mnt/maxtor/musique
my new folder appears in lms database, and i can scan with lms, but i
have to do this each time i add a new folder...

Any ideas?
