Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Praise
Agree 100%. I've been using Squeezeboxen since ~2007 and I have never wanted to use anything else. Sad that Logitech stopped production but grateful that they continue to sponsor the server and this discussion. There is no better streaming server, IMO. And it does keep getting better and better. Still hoping for a *simple* *secure* integration with Amazon Music without opening ports to the internet. And a *simple* *secure* way to access my server away from home. But I still use this server every day. I only wish I had the knowledge to contribute to the software, but I truly appreciate those who do! Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] 200 Playlist Limit on 8.0?
Michael, Somehow I fixed it... I wiped my install over the weekend and started fresh from a clean RPi install and all my playlists seem to appear for both iTunes and Spotify. I also figured out the >200 Spotify playlists was due to a bunch of playlists that are nested in folders... Saw there are some settings around hierarchical playlists, but given I rarely play those playlist... I'll just leave as is for now and play via Spotify Connect or search for them if necessary. I would like to return to LMS 7.9.2, or even 7.9.3, but I need the startup to work properly. So for now, unless someone has some definitive ideas, I will stay with LMS 7.8.1. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS 7.9.2 does not start automatically on Windows 10 Version 2004
I have had LMS 7.9.2 running on three different Windows 10 machines on three different networks with no problems for a long time. But then one by one, all three instances suddenly stopped loading automatically, even though under Control Panel -> Status -> Startup Options the setting was always Automatically Run at Login. The only way to get LMS to start, and stay running, was to change this setting to Don't Start Automatically, and then start manually as the Administrator. But even this approach seemed buggy, because I would have to click the Start button, sit for 30 seconds while LMS started, and then stopped on its own, and then click the Start button a second time. Only after clicking Start a second time would LMS keep running. Eventually, what I discovered is that this problem started when the Windows 10 version was updated from 1909 to 2004. I tried re-installing LMS 7.9.2 under Windows version 2004 many times, but I always obtained the same result. What I also eventually discovered is that the problem goes away if I install instead LMS 7.8.1-1452060482, an older version that I have lying around. So now I have LMS 7.8.1 running under Windows version 2004 on all three networks, and everything is working normally again, with startup set to Automatically Run at Login. I searched the forum expecting to find that others were were experiencing this same problem, but I could not find anything similar. I would like to return to LMS 7.9.2, or even 7.9.3, but I need the startup to work properly. So for now, unless someone has some definitive ideas, I will stay with LMS 7.8.1. Thank you. The command runs in the background, so when the work is finished, I recall it to the foreground and kill it with CTRL-C. The more complicated answer is that it used to be part of an elaborate shell script that runs on the LMS server and extracts current Now Playing information for for "disc jockey" displays that show the current time, temperature and what's playing at several locations around the house. I now know that there are easier ways to get that information through plugins, but I was unaware of what could be done with plugins when I wrote it. Thanks Michael. Never knew about the "maximum" memory setting. With the new scan completed on the new machine I have about 430k tracks. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] 7.9.3 and 8.0 "fade out time" Parameter?
The *changelog of 7.9.3* mentioned some changes on fading behavior: "*Allow fade-in for squeezeplay client that don't handle it locally when < 1s* (thanks philippe44!)" Right. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] 7.9.3 and 8.0 "fade out time" Parameter?
Hi Michael, 7.9.2 (fine): was the non-nightly : Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.2 - 1575296326 @ Mon Dec 2 15:38:15 WEST 2019 (and all possibly proposed Updates of 7.9.2) 7.9.3 (bug): all testet nightly Versions and the yesterday proposed Upgrade from 7.9.2 to 7.9.3, which is currently running: Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.3 - 1597753178 @ Sun Aug 23 19:15:28 WEDT 2020 i have reproduced the bug on other clean test installs. 7.9.2 is fine (but crashes with the repository issue) - 7.9.3 breaks the piCorePlayer Power Off GPIO (in all possible player settings concerning the fading). The *changelog of 7.9.3* mentioned some changes on fading behavior: "*Allow fade-in for squeezeplay client that don't handle it locally when < 1s* (thanks philippe44!)" maybe this "fix" needs some more testing :-) The old (buggy) behavior of the fading would save me. What 7.9.2 build are you comparing with? I can't see any obvious change between release 7.9.2 and 7.9.3 that I'd expect to change this behaviour. What permissions do you see on a newly created folder before you chown it? What is the file system on the external hdd? Perhaps adding a group membership could fix the problem.
