Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] "Various Artists" missing under "Artists"
I'm using LMS 8.1.0 and I have a menu item "Compilations" but no menu item "Various Artists" - but presumably these are the same thing. In Settings > My Music tab, I have not changed the default for grouped compilations, which is "Various Artists". But I see that the text in the box is grey rather than black. I don't know if that's significant. I'm happy with "Compilations" rather than "Various Artists", though I rarely use that menu item. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS 8.0 repository problem
I have the same issue on MacOS 10.13 and the latest 8.0. Did you ever find the cure? I'm seeing the same error on my Mac, works fine on my MacBook though. On older macOS versions you'll need to update IO::Socket::SSL. See https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?109738-Error-Can-t-connect-to-remote-server-to-retrieve%85&p=925539&viewfull=1#post925539 Check Settings/Information for the IO::Socket::SSL version reported. If it's not 2.067 or more recent you should give that a try. -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Hey everyone, i decided to give Opus a shot, upgrading from Vorbis -q6 to date. However, my LMS v8.1.0, 1608700893 on Windows 10 won't pick up any .opus files. The error thrown is [21-01-01 18:28:34.2421] Slim::Formats::readTags (186) Error: Unable to load Slim::Formats::OggOpus: Can't locate Slim/Formats/OggOpus.pm in @INC . Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] The sound quality of different LMS versions differ !
I don't use CUE file or know CUE files very well but there was a recent problem about an EAC generated unsupported variant of CUE file. I vaguely remember there were "REM REPLAYGAIN_TRACK..." and "REM REPLAYGAIN_ALBUM..." directives - not sure if LMS processes them. It seems to me to be sensible to recheck that if these REMs can be present in supported variants and whether the processing of these has changed. You're right: a new feature in the CUE sheet parsing would now use CUE sheets which previously were ignored. Which can lead to LMS relying on that CUE sheet's metadata rather than the audio file's alone. -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] SB1: is it dying or just no longer supported?
I tried another couple of things... 1. set server nic to match speed of SB - 10Mbps half duplex. - no difference 2. toggled flow control on switch - neither setting made any difference I also realised about the revision number - wireshark display was off by one byte. Thanks for the instructions. I went straight for debug and added a couple of others just for fun. Repeated numerous times. On the method of selecting logging - the file that it creates (-.../prefs/log.conf-) has instructions at the top for specifying your own customlog. This is what failed to achieve anything, so perhaps they should be removed or improved to be more explicit. Also, as soon as I enter the advanced logging screen the first setting says "Please select log set". Since I am writing to server.log, I chose server. This seems to make nothing work, but again it is not obvious why. I'm nervous about making assumptions - when chasing odd problems, assumptions can trip you up - better to check and be sure.Between versions of LMS & plugins can execute pref upgrade routines depending on the LMS change. LMS does not execute any code to reverse these changes if a user "downgrades" and uses the same prefs directory. I also know never be afraid to revisit old conclusions. Same problem, but the fix of giving Perl5.18 (and bash) Full Disk Access and a reboot does not fix. LMS starts and works as expected, but it just cannot expand/access/see the folder in my USB Volume. It sees the Volume just fine, just can't select anything in it. I think I fixed this when I originally upgraded from Catalina to 11.0.1. But I upgraded to 11.1, and can no longer fix. I triggered this as combination of the 11.1 upgrade, and installing LMS 8.1. I also drag and dropped Perl and Perl5.28 into Full Disk Access, rebooted and still no access. I think you may be looking at the wrong place - the logging I refer to is in LMS 7.* or 8.* To enable logging WebUI Settings/Advanced/Logging (drop down box option - initially shows Formatting) Scroll down to network.protocol.slimproto - click drop down setting and change from "Error" to "Info" (try "Debug" later if not enough info) and click *Apply* at bottom right. This will generate lots of message in server.log so only have one player active. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113533 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

I have smokeping running as well from the same VM as runs LMS 8.1, so you can see bursts of pings directed at the SB - if it is not in the middle of rebooting then it replies to all. There is one aspect that confused me for a while - pings unicast to the SB appearing on the old server - then I realised the ethernet line would be dropped during a reboot to the switch would be lost and just shoving the packets out every active port. > > My understanding is the SB1 used to work OK under 7.9.0 under Centos but > stopped working when you moved to Debian and a later version of LMS. They are lossless which means after a change the input file after compressed, then decompessed is an exact bit copy. By the same token, the DTS file users which have been compressed by another version, haven't had problems after been decoded by players or when decoded back into a bit stream. There is no evidence that the changes in the codec and decodecs have affected the bit stream after the compression/decompression cycle - they are lossless and exact bit copies even across versions. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113362 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

gordonb3 wrote: > So what about the (de)coder software? LMS finds the Flac frame which corresponds to the track start time according to Cue sheet and and then sends the Flac bit stream for the track (from start time to end time) unchanged from the file to the player. LMS does not decode Flac for the player except when transcoding where it is done by external applications. The player decoder hasn't changed between 7.9.* and 8.* If the Flac has to be resampled for the player (e.g. 192Khz file to be played on SB3) - the Flac and sox utilties' Flac decoding also has not changed between 7.9.* and 8.*. IIRC There are users of DTS stream encoded in Flac which means they are only playable if the bitstream is unmodified from file to player (for these users volume has to be fixed at 100%). None of these users have complained about 8.* - so bitstream is identical between 7.9.* & 8.* . bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113362 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
