I've installed that plugin and had a play with the various settings and fade curves, but as you say - it is not designed to do anything with sleep at the end of the current song option. I like to crossfade between tracks so have this set up and assumed this was causing the sleep fade; but it's not. I noticed that the fading was longer than the 5 seconds crossfade I have specified. Thanks @kidstypike for the link to the previous post which confirms sleep fade is a fixed 1 min. It would be nice to have the ability to switch it off or make it a variable. 1 minute is a long time if you want the player to sleep rather than you. I suspect 1 minute might be too short if you want to actually get some Zz yourself. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Sleep function
I originally posted this in Material /3rd Party Software but I'm informed that the sleeping functionality isn't Material specific. I use the sleep settings quite a bit mainly the "sleep after the duration of the current track" which is for me a very useful function and very accessible via the material skin. I did notice that the music fades out as it reaches the end of the track. Is there a setting to stop the fading happening. I couldn't seem to figure out how to do that; if it is possible at all. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Technical info
This is very trivial but is on my mind a bit. I'm not sure if its a Spotty issue, LMS or Material but the technical info is not always shown consistently. I've listened to the same track from Spotify on the same player on different occasions. sometimes it shows the technical in Material as Spotify 320k VBR Ogg vorbis 1 of 100 But other times the Spotify element is not shown. I also listened noticed sometimes the technical info in the default skin was showing 320k VBR, Ogg Vorbis (Spotify) but in Material it is 320k VBR Ogg Vorbis 11 of 536 Any idea why this might be. More in solidarity than anything else... I too gave up Windows 10 and opted for PiCore on a Pi4 as a replacement. Everything is much quicker and easier in the new world. I frequently got in a mess on Windows 10 but a complete uninstall and removal of everything ( including preferences etc) always got me going again. Some very basic things I hope some patient person will clear up for me. I used to run LMS on Windows and was on the nightly branch, mainly out of curiosity so would be quite comfortable updating LMS to the latest version very frequently. It did go wrong a few times but I was able to sort it out even if it meant starting everything from scratch as a last resort. I'm now on Picore with the default set up and it's working great - Thank you. I've had a couple of plugin updates but I might be brave enough to be a bit more adventurous. Current info Logitech Media Server Version: 8.2.0 - 1627922070 @ Tue Aug 3 11:43:18 CEST 2021 Hostname: pCP Server IP Address: 192.168.1.194 Server HTTP Port Number: 9000 Operating system: piCore - EN - utf8 Platform Architecture: armv7l-linux Perl Version: 5.32.1 - arm-linux-gnueabihf-thread-multi-64int Audio::Scan: 1.05 IO::Socket::SSL: 2.071 Database Version: DBD::SQLite 1.58 (sqlite 3.22.0) Total Players Recognized: 4 So my concerns are about switching branches. 1. In PiCore I see the Select Branch options of Release; Stable and Development. Is it as simple as selecting the branch and then "update LMS"? 2. I assume Release is 8.2.0, Stable is 8.2.1 Development 8.3.0 3. Can I move freely between these branches or is there no going back without a new install from scratch. eg. If I went to Stable I would be prevented from returning to Release, or if I went for the development branch no return to stable or release. 4. Given my low level of knowledge ( pretty much non existent on Linux) am I just asking for trouble in moving at all do you think. This may be nothing and a quirk of my old, attention seeking windows netbook. It might have heard the rumour that it's getting retired in January and replaced by a Pi. I am on the nightly branch and upgraded to the latest version this morning.
