Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Logitech Media Server 8.0.0 released!

2020-11-25 Thread coyrls

I have upgraded from 7.9.4 to 8.0.1 with no problems. Thanks, the
online music library integration is great!

I have one question. I have the Play Windows Media (v1.1) plugin
installed. Everything still works (i.e. I can play WMA files with the
new version of Squeezelite) but if I look at "File Types" under the
Advanced tab, I see double entries under WMA that weren't there under
7.9.x:

32318

Is this by design to show that a custom-convert.conf has been applied?

I have a HiFiBerry Dac+ Pro connected to an amplifier with DIN inputs.
I used this cable:
https://soundsheavenly.com/naim/119-532-stereo-rca-twin-phono-to-5-pin-din-input-naim-quad-meridian-etc.html#/2-length-1m
Good quality and much cheaper than Flashback cables.

It is more expensive than yours but still on the foothills as far as
cables are concerned, e.g.

You will need 50MB for pcp and more to run LMS, did you mean 32GB rather
than 32MB?

Probably not now but you could. I have a couple of 16MB SD cards that
came with cameras a few years ago!

Perhaps the section heading warning could include a note that as the
plugins have not been updated, you should assume that they are
unsupported.

There are no MQA files on Qobuz; they are all flac. Note MQA is not the
same as high resolution, which is available on Qobuz and Tidal but all
high resolution files on Qobuz are flac, not MQA. (see

Yes it is (with a plugin) and works well. LMS 8 also integrates your
Qobuz favourites and playlists into your LMS library

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Problem playing WMA files

2021-02-08 Thread coyrls

To play WMA files under Pcp 7.0.0 you need to:

1) Install the “Play Windows Media” LMS plugin
2) Install the pcp-ffmpeg.tcz Extension

In addition, if you have any embedded jpgs in your WMA files (e.g. album
covers), you will need to edit the custom-covert.conf file installed by
the Play Windows Media Plugin, which you can find in
/usr/local/slimserver/Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/PlayWMA for Pcp
7.0.0.

The reason you need to make the edit is that by default when converting
WMA to Flac, ffmpeg will convert any embedded jpgs to png format. The
version of ffmpeg installed in Pcp 7.0.0 doesn’t support jpg to png
conversion and so the WMA to Flac conversion fails. The solution is to
add the “-nv” option so that only the audio is converted. You need to
change the Flac conversion in custom-covert.conf from:

Code:

[ffmpeg] -v 0 -$START$ -i $PATH$ -f flac –

to:

Code:

[ffmpeg] -v 0 -vn $START$ -i $PATH$ -f flac -

I am not experiencing such issues with a pi-4 wired connection. Did you
try swapping out Ethernet cables, as it could be a cable problem?

Look at your setting for the Qobuz plugin:

As you say, random just doesn't feel random to listeners:

I think the "shuffle" described by the Spotify engineer is the effect
that people want from a "random" option. 2-4 seconds is not something
to worry about in my opinion but for those with "legacy" CPUs, I think
there should be the option to choose a "simple random" option.
