Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS web interface keeps becoming unresponsive on Debian 10

2020-03-09 Thread paulster

I was never able to get this new version built, which I know is
definitely down to user error.

If this is newer build of Audio::Scan then does it not make sense to add
it to the nightlies since there are other people reporting the same
issue?

I downloaded the entire ZIP file and then extracted that and browsed to
the subfolder.

I guess I need to check this again when I get home. Thanks for the
pointer.

I don't know if I'm losing my mind, but I didn't find buildme.sh within
that folder.

Am I missing something really obvious?

The nightly build you referenced hasn't helped at all, so I'm still
presently stuck with a perpetually-freezing user interface.

Thanks Michael. I'll try the update first as that's easy to apply and
then look at the Audio::Scan compile if it's still playing up.

Any thoughts on how to track this down then from my end if it's behaving
for you? If lemppari and I are both experiencing the same issue after
upgrading it doesn't seem to be something unique to my environment and
seems more likely that the change in Perl version has upset something.

The fact that it interrupts music playback makes it really annoying.

I just tried an album that I knew was problematic before with the images
pulled out of the FLAC files and put in the folder instead, and that one
played fine. I also tried an album of MP3s (my library doesn't include
any MP3s) with embedded artwork and saw the same issue.

So at first glance it does appear to be related to embedded artwork.

I'll PM you a link to some files. but you can also use MP3tag to easily
embed artwork in FLAC and/or MP3 files. as well as extracting it.

Not sure if it's relevant, but it seems we've both upgraded to Debian 10
rather than done a clean install. Have you tested with embedded images
rather than images in the folder?

Tried a bunch of image IDs and sizes. Instant response to the browser

Every image is stored in the FLAC files, and they're all pre-sized to
600x600. LMS is running off an SSD, so the database is on really fast
disk.

It's weird, but this is definitely correlated to the upgrade to Debian
10.

I agree that looks like it's a timeout value, since it's always 30
seconds almost to the millisecond.

Setting artwork.imageproxy to INFO or DEBUG didn't yield anything in the

I switched off the logging once I'd captured that, because I was able to
reproduce the problem immediately. It does seem to be sporadic though,
so I'll turn the logging back on and let it run for a while.

All my images are resized to 600x600 before being embedded in my FLAC
files for LMS, and this was was 287KB, so not especially big.

Michael

Haven’t tried it in failsafe mode yet, but that won’t tell me where the
problem lies particularly, just whether or not it’s in the core product.

I realised that I’ve been streaming a bunch of music the last week or so
using Spotty, and that’s been much better. Went back to my local library
tonight and it started freezing again.

I will try with failsafe, but I think it would also be useful to know
which logging options would be worth cranking up to try to identify the
cause.

Michael

Any way you can think of to diagnose the lock-ups in LMS that this
thread is actually about? It seems to be much better since I got the
July 24 build, but definitely isn't working nearly as well as it was on
Debian 9.

Thanks

Thanks for this. I'll try to do some more testing over the weekend. In
response to question 2, it seems to be track navigation (skip, play,
pause) that triggers the issue. And I noticed it happening when I used
iPeng as well the other night, so it doesn't seem to be just the web
interface causing the problem.

I did pull Michael's latest July 24 build down to see if the fixes in
there would help and it (anecdotally) felt more responsive, but the
problems have persisted.

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS web interface keeps becoming unresponsive on Debian 10

2019-07-24 Thread paulster

I've been able to get the problem to occur again with a clean logging
period, and I didn't get anything at all in the server log, so I think
those previous errors were related simply to it losing connection with
the players.

This definitely feels like it's related to the Perl version in Debian
Buster, although I would have thought that other distros were running
this version way before Debian adopted it, since Ubuntu and the like
tend to be more bleeding edge.

Not sure what the next steps are, but it's annoying since I use the web
interface a lot.

I don't use TrackStat, but I have the following plugins installed:
iPlayer
Custom Browse
Hide Menus
Kids Play
Multi Library
Power Save
Switch Player
Spotty
YouTube

I'm seeing these entries repeatedly in the log file, so I don't know
whether it's an issue with the web interface since the Perl change:

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS web interface keeps becoming unresponsive on Debian 10

2019-07-18 Thread paulster

I've always run the current version of Debian without issues for the
last 10 years or so, but since upgrading my LMS server to Debian 10
(Intel x64) I've noticed that the web interface keeps becoming
unresponsive for periods of about 10 seconds, and then it catches up.
In some cases the music will also stop during the periods it's not
responding.

Running LMS 7.9.2-1562753347 on minimal Debian 10 Intel x64.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for fixing this! At least that offers a solid reason for why I
couldn't replicate the issue after resetting the zoom.

Genius! I reset the zoom and now it's rendering properly.
Interestingly, when I increased the zoom it still appeared to render
properly, so I have no idea what caused this.

Thanks, but have you seen how it's rendering on Firefox? It looks a
mess, with the box overlaying text and sometimes going off the left hand
edge of the screen.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Spotify interface changed since updating 7.8.1

2016-05-09 Thread paulster

I updated my release of 7.8.1 because of the documented issues with
software players in Michael's other thread, and have noticed some
weirdness in the official Spotify interface since I did, pertaining to
search.

In 7.8.1 - 1426671206 hovering over the Search text gave a direct search
text entry field as shown:
20423

Since updating to 7.8.1 - 1461244851 I now have to click the Seach icon,
which takes me to a second screen where the search text entry field
seems to be in the wrong place, overlapping the New Search text:
20424

I don't know if this new behaviour is deliberate, but the old behaviour
was quicker and easier to work with. Regardless, it's messy looking
because of the search box overlapping text.
