[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Volume in classic UI changes although output fixed at 100%
Slightly odd one. I have output fixed at 100% for a couple of my players (PCP). I usually use material skin, which hides the volume control when it's set to 100%. However, I was in the classic skin today server:9000, and noticed that the displayed volume changes if I try and change it. The volume doesn't change, but the volume displayed does. If you're running a Windows machine for other purposes, I'm sure you can likely make LMS run just fine. However, if you just want a simple LMS box, small, low power consumption, incredibly reliable, regularly community maintained etc., then I'm not why you'd look past running LMS on picoreplayer. The core team is brilliant, the hardware costs next to nothing and everything just works. I've got 7 Pi's running pcp, one of those running my LMS and also serving a Boom and a Transporter. I've also made the change from Tidal to Qobuz because of hi-rez on Tidal only being on MQA. Basically, since MQA isn't, and likely won't, be supported in almost all of our scenarios, it just seems Tidal's a non-starter for us and qobuz is a better option. Interested if anyone has any different views of course. Tidal Masters are encoded with MQA, which requires a licence to decode which LMS doesn't have. However, playing a Masters recording on non-MQA equipment will actually give you less quality than the non Masters version due to the encoding process that's been applied - the bit that non-MQA systems can read has been processed to work with the MQA encoding, which we can't read. So, the best you get from tidal with LMS is the HiFi (CD quality) non-Masters recordings. I must admit I run my Transporter at 100% volume, just on the principal that an extra digital volume control certainly won't make the sound better. However, don't forget there is a jumper in the transporter to allow you to step down the output voltage. Otherwise, I found the max volume I could turn my pre-amp up to was only about 2/10, so fine adjustments in volume were tricky. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Dissapearing apps from My Apps
Hi All I've got a weird one with My Apps. Basically, different players see different apps as being available in My Apps. If I look at mysb, I have a few apps selected (tidal, tunein, AbsoluteRadio), and then a few local ones (e.g. BBC iPlayer). Most of my players show all apps, but a couple only show a couple in their MyApps when I look at their Menu (on an old SB3) or using Soundicity with a piCorePlayer. I have other pCPs that work fine, and other players (transporter, duet) that work fine. If I use on of the missing apps (e.g. Tidal) through the web interface with one of the affected players, it plays fine. If I add a new app, it shows up right away with the unaffected players, but doesn't show up at all with the affected ones. Using latest 7.9.0. Whatever I do, I can only see the first 3 I created. I've just tried deleting one of these 3, which was actually empty, but it still shows in the tidal app after an LMS restart, so it looks it's just not scanning at all. Ah - interesting - not a straight no then. So, as to why I have 3 subnets on my home LAN. The LMS is in 192.168.3.x, whereas most of the clients are on 192.168.1.x and there's various bits on 2.x. 1.x and 2.x can both see 3.x, but 1.x can't see 2.x. So, I can specify the ip of the server fine from any client, but that doesn't work for LMS discovery of course, but also doesn't work for DLNA as these are multicast. So, I wondered about creating multiple vlans on the LMS so that there's a server in each of the subnets. Could probably create vlans (i'm using PCP, so tinycore Linux) or failing that I could add separate physical interfaces as well. Anyone know off the top of their heads where tinycore keeps it's interfaces file? Any thoughts?
