After upgrading to latest LMS using the LMS control panel I am receiving a "cannot connect to server on port 9000" error on the "diagnostics" tab of LMS control panel. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Daylight Saving Time rescan issue - again!!
Well it's that time of year again when we move the clocks ahead one hour for daylight saving time and performing a "look for new and media files" rescan on LMS usually leads to scanner.exe believing that all of the files in the media library have been changed (due to the one hour difference). My usual method of dealing with this issue has been to just clear the library and do a full rescan (using the control panel). I have raised this issue several times in the past only to be told "LMS should not behave in this manner". This is not an acceptable response since whether or not LMS should behave in this fashion, the fact remains that LMS HAS INDEED behaved as I have stated above and continues to behave in this manner. Please tell me what information you might need about my LMS setup and I will forward you that information. And more importantly please fix this long standing issue. Thanks!! Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LogitechMediaServer-7.9.1-1502118993.exe Not installing correctly
Well the plot thickens... After a reboot of the computer which runs LMS, LMS started and loaded and all of my Squeezebox players are working just fine. However upon opening the LMS control panel (as administrator) the Diagnostics tab shows Port 9090 (CLI) as Failed but everything reports as Okay. And the Information tab says "No status available..." Please note: I did not make any changes what so ever to my anti-virus or firewall settings, which had prior to this LMS update, allowed LMS to work just fine, i.e. all diagnostics reported as "Okay". And the strangeness continues... The LMS web interface does not run on the host or any other networked computer (the web interface had worked just fine). And neither does the either of the two LMS front end programs that I use (moose and muso) seem to be working. However iPeng is working just fine (thanks Pippin!). Any ideas as to what could be wrong, how to trouble shoot the problem and, most importantly, how to fix this issue. In any event I'm happy that my Squeezeboxen are all working agin. The latest nightly build (LogitechMediaServer-7.9.1-1502118993.exe) is not installing correctly. I restarted LMS and this is the server log file: Slim::Control::Request::renderAsArray (2233) Error: request should set useIxHashes in Slim::Control::Request->new() Slim::Control::Request::renderAsArray (2233) Backtrace: frame 0: Slim::Utils::Log::logBacktrace (/Slim/Control/Request.pm line 2233) frame 1: Slim::Control::Request::renderAsArray (C:/PROGRA~2/SQUEEZ~1/server/Slim/Plugin/CLI/Plugin.pm line 691) frame 2: Slim::Plugin::CLI::Plugin::cli_request_write (C:/PROGRA~2/SQUEEZ~1/server/Slim/Plugin/CLI/Plugin.pm line 1004) frame 3: Slim::Plugin::CLI::Plugin::cli_subscribe_notification (/Slim/Control/Request.pm line 2058) frame 4: (eval) (/Slim/Control/Request.pm line 2058) frame 5: Slim::Control::Request::notify (/Slim/Control/Request.pm line 859) frame 6: Slim::Control::Request::checkNotifications (slimserver.pl line 705) frame 7: main::idle (slimserver.pl line 674) frame 8: main::main (slimserver.pl line 130) frame 9: PerlSvc::Interactive (/PerlSvc.pm line 99) frame 10: PerlSvc::_interactive (slimserver.pl line 0) frame 11: (eval) (slimserver.pl line 0) Slim::Control::Request::renderAsArray (2233) Error: request should set useIxHashes in Slim::Control::Request->new() Slim::Control::Request::renderAsArray (2233) Backtrace: frame 0: Slim::Utils::Log::logBacktrace (/Slim/Control/Request.pm line 2233) frame 1: Slim::Control::Request::renderAsArray (C:/PROGRA~2/SQUEEZ~1/server/Slim/Plugin/CLI/Plugin.pm line 691) frame 2: Slim::Plugin::CLI::Plugin::cli_request_write (C:/PROGRA~2/SQUEEZ~1/server/Slim/Plugin/CLI/Plugin.pm line 1004) frame 3: Slim::Plugin::CLI::Plugin::cli_subscribe_notification (/Slim/Control/Request.pm line 2058) frame 4: (eval) (/Slim/Control/Request.pm line 2058) frame 5: Slim::Control::Request::notify (/Slim/Control/Request.pm line 859) frame 6: Slim::Control::Request::checkNotifications (slimserver.pl line 705) frame 7: main::idle (slimserver.pl line 674) frame 8: main::main (slimserver.pl line 130) frame 9: PerlSvc::Interactive (/PerlSvc.pm line 99) frame 10: PerlSvc::_interactive (slimserver.pl line 0) frame 11: (eval) (slimserver.pl line 0) Slim::Control::Request::renderAsArray (2233) Error: request should set useIxHashes in Slim::Control::Request->new() Slim::Control::Request::renderAsArray (2233) Backtrace: frame 0: Slim::Utils::Log::logBacktrace (/Slim/Control/Request.pm line 2233) frame 1: Slim::Control::Request::renderAsArray (C:/PROGRA~2/SQUEEZ~1/server/Slim/Plugin/CLI/Plugin.pm line 691) frame 2: Slim::Plugin::CLI::Plugin::cli_request_write (C:/PROGRA~2/SQUEEZ~1/server/Slim/Plugin/CLI/Plugin.pm line 1004) frame 3: Slim::Plugin::CLI::Plugin::cli_subscribe_notification (/Slim/Control/Request.pm line 2058) frame 4: (eval) (/Slim/Control/Request.pm line 2058) frame 5: Slim::Control::Request::notify (/Slim/Control/Request.pm line 859) frame 6: Slim::Control::Request::checkNotifications (slimserver.pl line 705) frame 7: main::idle (slimserver.pl line 674) frame 8: main::main (slimserver.pl line 130) frame 9: PerlSvc::Interactive (/PerlSvc.pm line 99) frame 10: PerlSvc::_interactive (slimserver.pl line 0) frame 11: (eval) (slimserver.pl line 0) Living Rm: Transporter-SimAudio pre/power amps-Vandersteen 3A Sign. & sub Home Theater: Touch-Marantz HTR-Energy Veritas 2.1 & Linn sub Computer Rm: Touch-Headroom Desktop w/DAC-Aragon amp-Energy Veritas 2.1 & Energy sub Bedroom: Touch-HR Desktop w/DAC-Audio Refinement amp-Energy Veritas 2.0 Guest Rm: Duet-Sony soundbar Garage: SB3-JVC compact system Controls: iPeng; SB Controller; Moose & Muso Server: LMS 7.9 on dedicated windows 10 computer w/2 Drobos 'Last.fm' (http://www.last.fm/user/jazzfann/) ralphpnj's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10827 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106351 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS 7.9.0 - 1477086729 on Windows 10 - stops
This week I upgraded to the latest nightly build of LMS and there appears to be a bug. So far I've been able to isolate what I believe to be the problem however I would like more guidance so that the bug can be properly identified and hopefully corrected. Here is what I believe is causing the problem: LMS is running on a dedicated Windows 10 desktop with the music files stored on two USB drives. Note: I have been LMS for almost 10 years on this type of set up and have never experienced this issue. I use several third party programs to view my music library and control LMS from several other computers in my house. I use moose (version 0.77 - no longer supported but still working) for its fast library search ability and for simple LMS control. I also use muso (version 2.5.27 - very well supported) for its beautiful music library interface and for simple LMS control. In addition I use iPeng on both my iPad Air and iPhone 6 plus. What happens is that ever since I upgraded LMS to the latest nightly build every time I use either moose or muso to select an item to play, as in add the item to the playlist, either as a new playlist or appended to the current playlist, LMS stops. Please note that LMS stops when using any computer running either moose or muso and that the "pause", "stop", "play", "skip" controls on both moose and muso appear to work fine. Also this problem does not occur when using the Squeezebox remote, LMS web control, the Squeezebox Controller or iPeng to select an item to add to the playlist, either as a new playlist or appended to the current playlist. I would like run some diagnostics to assist in correcting this problem and would like to know how best to do this. Specifically: what actions should I try to reproduce what log setting to use and what log files to post. Thanks!! [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Should I update LMS 7.9 nightly to LMS 7.9 "official"?
I haven't seen this question posted so here goes: I am running LMS 7.9 and recently, as in for the past few weeks, I have been getting this message on the LMS web interface home page - "A new version of Logitech Media Server is available. (Click here)". Please note that I have been running various nightly builds of LMS 7.9 for well over a year and until this message appeared no new version of LMS was available since the official version of LMS appeared to be 7.8. Clicking on the update message opens a "Software Updates" web page which says this: >>An updated version of Logitech Media Server is available and ready to install. A new version of Logitech Media Server is available. Latest Changes (all changes) 2016-10-21 Merge pull request #118 from danielvijge/perl-5.20-armel-modules Perl 5.20 modules for armel Perl 5.20 modules for armel 2016-10-19 Show the client ID (if possible) when getting a non dispatchable request 2016-10-06 Merge branch 'public/7.8' into public/7.9 Merge branch 'public/7.7' into public/7.8 # Conflicts: # Slim/Plugin/RadioTime/Metadata.pm<< So my question is this: Should I update my version of LMS (Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.0 - 1474277583 @ Mon Sep 26 04:05:40 CUT 2016) to the new version. Yeah I know that LMS is pretty old but that version runs very nicely on my computer and I not sure that newer version would offer any worthwhile changes or enhancements. Under normal circumstances Edge works fine. i believe that it was because I left it open for extended time that the memory issue arose. And yes, I also don't like Edge and use Firefox on all my other computers. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Microsoft Edge memory leak and LMS
I run LMS on a dedicated desktop computer (information given below) and yesterday I experienced a very strange and distressing problem. I was in the process of doing "find new music" rescan and opened the LMS web browser interface on the dedicated computer that runs LMS to check on the progress of the rescan. Microsoft Edge was the browser that was opened and I left the browser open with the LMS rescan progress page showing. The rescan finished and everything seemed fine however the next day I noticed that LMS was behaving strangely, e.g. running slowly, rebuffering, etc., so I opened task manager to see what might be causing the problem. I then discovered that a Microsoft Edge sub-process was using almost all of the available RAM on the computer. I tried to close both Edge and the sub-process but to no avail. After doing a hard reboot and getting LMS running once again I then discovered that many of the LMS preferences were either missing, incorrect or corrupt. A few questions: 1) Is anyone aware of the memory leak issue with Microsoft Edge? And if so was the leak caused by Edge, LMS or a combination of the two? 2) Is there a backup copy of the LMS preference that I can use? And if not, is there a way to make a backup of the LMS preferences for future use? Thanks in advance for your help. About 8 hour for one drive, another 12 for the second, bigger drive and another 12 hours to scan the cover art. All cover art files are jpg, under 1mb and stored as a "cover.jpg" file in the same folder as the audio files. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] "look for new and changed media files" rescan issues
michel wrote: > I often do the same but I do not have this issue. > Difference is probably that I keep my mp3s and flac files in different > subfolders of the library. I think you misunderstood me: I create a folder, call it "New Music Album" containing mp3s of the songs on an album and "add" it to the LMS music library by doing a "look for new and changed media files" rescan. The folder and the songs (as mp3 files) are correctly added to the LMS music library. I now create a new folder, also called "New Music Album" but this folder contains flac files instead of mp3 files of the songs on the album. I DELETE the "New Music Album" folder which contains the mp3 files and add "New Music Album" that contains the flac files. I "add" this folder to the LMS music library by doing a "look for new and changed media files" rescan. The folder and the songs (as flac files) are correctly added to the LMS music library. So far so good, however the now deleted "New Music Album" of the mp3 files is still listed by LMS as being in the music library although the folder and files have been deleted and rescanned. That is the problem. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] "look for new and changed media files" rescan issues
For as long as I can remember doing a "look for new and changed media files" rescan produces the following issue: I have an album ripped as mp3 files scanned into my LMS library. I then rerip the album as flac files and replace the mp3 files with the newly ripped flac files, i.e. I delete the mp3 files and add the flac files, and do a "look for new and changed media files" rescan. What I now get in the LMS library is an album listing showing both the new flac files and the deleted mp3 files. When I try to play the album LMS reports an error since it can no longer find the deleted mp3 files. A few questions: 1) Has anyone else experienced this issue/problem? 2) Is there any way short of doing a full "clear library and rescan everything" scan to fix this issue/problem? A related but slightly different issue is that when doing a "look for new and changed media files" rescan LMS will keep rescanning the same changed audio files over and over again with each rescan. In other words, the first time the files are changed, such as renamed and retagged, and a "look for new and changed media files" rescan is done the files are rescanned as changed audio files but then when the next "look for new and changed media files" rescan is done (without doing a full clear library and rescan between the two "look for new and changed media files" rescans) the same files are again listed as changed files and rescanned with each rescan. And again I ask the same two questions: 1) Has anyone else experienced this issue/problem? 2) Is there any way short of doing a full "clear library and rescan everything" scan to fix this issue/problem? As I said I believe that these two issues are related and possibly have something to do with how SQLite manages the database.
