Hi - I've searched here but haven't found it addressed. If so, please supply the link. Can I modify the display on the web interface at the album level? LMS 7.91 had been running perfectly since I first ran as soon as the stable 7.91 was released, but yesterday for some strange reason it stopped playing a .dsf file (on picoreplayer) and then would not play any .dsf files at all (FLACS and ALACS are fine). Trying to troubleshoot, I decided just to reload LMS. I downloaded the .pkg from here: http://downloads.slimdevices.com/LogitechMediaServer_v7.9.1/ and installed it. After that LMS would not start. In the preference pane It would indicate 'starting.' but then would change to 'server has started'. I found the thread with your hint that had the 4(?) line commands to mkdir and then chown, but that didn't work either. I would like to try the little script that you created, but it is no longer available. I can supply more information here, I know it is a bit sketchy. Any suggestions would be appreciated. stereoptic's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=53162 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108957 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

In LMS, does "Settings>Basic Settings>Playlist Directory" reside in the same location that iTunes is writing to? You could be updating the playlists in iTunes, but if LMS is looking in the wrong place, perhaps an older location, it won't see your updates. stereoptic's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=53162 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109552 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Library Problem
I use dbpoweramp for tagging, and Tag & Rename as well. Tag & Rename is very powerful, it lets you rename the file based upon track tags and vice versa. Also has a good text substitute feature which I have found to be very helpful. I have run into the same issue that you have where an artist listing appears in an alphabetical location. It usually is due to the an error in one of the sorting artist fields in a compilation CD, or not checking off the 'compilation' tag. I use 'Various Artists' for the album artist name in compilations, although I know that many prefer to leave it blank. stereoptic's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=53162 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108415 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] VPN Question - Connecting to LMS - Netgear Nighthawk Router
Previously I was able to connect to my LMS through VPN on my android phone while I was on 3G, 4G, or another wireless network. I was using a Raspberry pi and "Open VPN for Android" on my Samsung Galaxy. Click on Orange Squeeze, select my server (192.168.n.nnn) and I was set to go. I recently upgrade my router to a Netgear Nighthawk r7000. I set up VPN on there using my dyndns account. I am able to connect to the files on my LMS server (using file management tools like File Expert) and also 'puTTY' in (using Connectbot), but when I try to access the LMS server page (192.168.n.nnn:9000) on the internet, or through any apps such as Orange Squeeze, I get a "Connection error, unexpected end of stream on connection). I do not have any ports forwarded on the router. I understand that there are difference in the Raspberry pi VPN software and the Nighthawk software. I am not sure why the Rpi VPN would connect to LMS and the router VPN won't. Any assistance would be appreciated - Do I have to make some changes on the router side or the dyndns side, or both? thanks in advance stereoptic's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=53162 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108093 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

I've removed my forwarding quite some time ago and just use VPN if I need to access LMS. Although I don't intend to do so, how safe is it to limit the port forwarding and use the option "Block Incoming Connections" and set a specific IP Address in the "Allowed IP Addresses" field? Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] All Squeezeboxes wakes up family at 00:23 at full volume!
I am now using a VPN server to access my Squeezebox environment remotely. I have a question regarding the user name and password in situations where the ports are left open (and a VPN connection is _not_ used remotely). For the incidents related in this thread, where the ports were left open, was the unauthorized entry made through brute force attacks by guessing/calculating both the user name and password? Would hacking it require a rainbow table, or is it much easier than that? Or was the username and password captured by some other means? When connecting remotely (when the ports are open), can the username and password be grabbed by a hacker - is this information not encrypted at this point? Even though I am now using VPN, both my username and password and password are at least 12 mixed characters and my LMS username is completely unique, it is not anything I use for websites, network access, etc. stereoptic's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=53162 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106153 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Too much work. There are other items wrong with the preference pane, at least in my installation. Library tab doesn't show any entries, but using the web and settings reveals that they are there. I occasionally can't use the 'stop server' option 0 the server stays running, I have to stop perl first. What steps should be taken once the system is compromised like this? Obviously, close the port to the outside internet, change the LMS password. What can be analyzed in the logs? Change User login passwords? stereoptic's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=53162 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106153 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Unable to view LMS Information Tab in OSX Preferences
Hi - I'm not sure how long this has been happening (looks like I asked a similar question here a while ago and the condition cleared up) bu when I access system preferences (OSX El Capitan on Macmini) and click on LMS and then the Information tab, I get a dialog box requesting "to view this page, you must log in to this area on localhost:9000" When I use my LMS password, it is rejected. (the password works when I login from my laptop to 192.168.1.156:9000, and then settings and then information tab.) When I enter the URL "http://localhost:9000"; on the mac mini, it opens LMS fine. I have deleted my preferencepane, even reloaded LMS (7.9). When I try to stop LMS from the preference pane, I never get the message "the server is stopped". when I click on stop server, the message "the server is running" remains. I have to go into system monitor to stop perl. Any suggestions? stereoptic's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=53162 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106151 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Thanks for that. My Linksys Router has VPN passthrough and I already have a dyndns account. So am I good to go? [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] VPN - "how to" help, please
Is there a simple step by step documentation on how to connect to the LMS through VPN? Currently, I have the two required ports (9000 and 3483 ) port forwarded through my router. I have a user ID and password and also blocked incoming connections with the exception of 127.0.0.1,192.168.1.*, and the router address of a relatives house so that I can connect to my LMS server at home using a Raspberry Pi. I understand that this is not the most secure method. I would like to be able to set up VPN on my server (a Mac Mini running El Capitan). I just paid $20 for OSX server and have set up a VPN network connection. I have orange squeeze and squeeze player installed n my cell phone and connect to my network while I am home on wifi, but my confusion now is how do I set up those 2 ports securely so that I can connect to LMS though my cell phone from a remote location outside my WAN and LAN? Please be gentle with me. :) stereoptic's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=53162 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105893 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Thanks very much for the details. I will have to investigate further when I get to that location in the next couple of weeks. stereoptic's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=53162 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105521 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Accessing Remotely - Port Forwarding Dilemma
Thanks for the reply. The second router is not really connected in series, it is on 192.168._0_.1 while the router on the router/modem combo is 192.168._1_.1 . I understand the risks of LMS not being secure. It is password protected with the understanding that the encryption is not very effective. If there was one drawback to the LMS ecosystem, it is security for remote connections. I know that there are other methods, but I haven't had the time (or courage) to try them out. stereoptic's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=53162 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105521 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Accessing Remotely - Port Forwarding Dilemma
Hi all - I have 2 Systems running Logitech Media Server. The first one I have been using for years and I have been able to access it remotely without any problems. My internet signal comes into the Optimum modem and out of the modem, ethernet is connected to a Cisco router with ports 9000 and 3483 forwarded. LMS is running on a Mac mini. No issues, works fantastic. I recently set up LMS at another location on a Dell Inspiron i3050. The internet signal comes into a Comcast combination modem/router (Modem is 10.0.0.1, router is 192.168.1.1) . I don't use the Comcast router, instead I have a D-Link connected to the modem. DLINK uses 192.168.0.1. I port forwarded 9000 and 3483 on the Dlink. PiCoreplayer Squeezelite running on a Raspberry pi works fine. However to connect to it remotely, port forwarding on the DLink was not enough. I had to log into the Comcast modem (10.0.0.1) and also port forward 9000 and 3483 on the _modem_ in order to connect remotely. Does that make sense? The DLink has IP of 192.168.0.1, while the Comcast ROUTER is 192.168.1.1. I am not sure why I had to port forward on my modem? Any explanations or suggestions? Much appreciated! stereoptic's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=53162 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105521 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Media server does not see a song that is there.
That looks like a long name for me. I had a similar issue with somesongs that were 3 or 4 directories deep and when combined with a long song title LMS did not see it. stereoptic's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=53162 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105110 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
