The idea is I tried to rename all my tags to be as Spotify tags, because
Spotty needs this to use the “Browse on Spotify” feature. It works very
well because for a local artist, Spotty tries to find all the
occurrences in Spotify.

I was told that this was improved IN LMS 8.2 but I did not test it yet.
I am using 8.1.1

Yes OST is Original Soundtrack.

I’d argue that an Original Soundtrack to a film etc (if that’s what you
mean by OST) is likely to be a very good example of a compilation.
However if you want to defeat the LMS scan logic tag the AlbumArtist as
“OST” or similar. Provided there is no compilation tag set it will then
appear as a single album under OST

I think you are right. But it is a strange behaviour. Your idea could
be good but I could have problems with Spotty matching names algorithm

If even one track has an artist tag that is not identical to all other
tracks on album, LMS will treat this as a compilation. To avoid this,
also use a single ALBUM ARTIST for every track on the album.

I really don't remember how I got these records. It is possible that I

My original CDs are only rippped with EAC (on a PC) and XLD on Mac.

have found MusicBrainz tags to cause issues. I generally remove these. I
don't use ArtistSort tags and get ride of them whenever I have a file

I have no idea about Yate. Never used it.
Glad you’ve found the culprit. After correction you will need a Clear &

I got mp3tag and you are right. It is the ARTISTSORT tag. Is it this
available in Yate?

There is a version of mp3tag for Mac

We all seem to agree it’s rogue ARTISTSORT tags. It can be difficult to
find the culprit.

I use mp3tag for all my tagging. I'd take one of these odd artists
(David Bowie), open all his files in YATE, and then somehow look at all
the tag values aross these files. It is easy in mp3tag, as I'd just
select all these folders, and in mp3tag, right click, select "extended
tags" and I'd see all the tags and values, including easily seeing
whether there is ANY artistsort tag at all in any of the files.

How can I see this?

I have a MacOS X with Yate tagging software.

I am going crazy

could be that one of those artist's tracks also includes a "featuring
artist xxx" and somehow has a ARTISTSORT tag included. I'd bet a lot
that this is caused by stray ARTISTSORT tags. (and as noted, if this is
in even one track by this artist, it can affect how ALL albums/tracks by
that artist showup in LMS.)

Look carefully at your tags for all Bryan Adams tracks. If there is one
track with an ARTISTSORT tag that says Adams, Bryan then that is why.
That single instance effects every Bryan Adams track.

It will be similar for other artist issues.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Bad sorting in LMS 8.1.1 and artistas

2021-07-29 Thread jotap_66

Hi:

I have a collection of 1200 local discs

When ordering by Artist, there are several (4 o 5) that are not
correctly sorted

I.e Bryan Adams appear in letter A
David Bowie appears in letter S
New order also appears in letter S

Where can be the problem?

Regards

JP
