No, I doublechecked; they´re all on 8.xx BUT, I figured it out: The message "... old firmware ..." is triggered, when a Softsqueeze instance is running. I never tried to update it ;0). It doesnt work; it hungs up when trying to install "Patch installer" with neverending loading spinner. BUT: This is no problem, Softsqueeze works well. firmware: 7.8.0 should not trigger that message. Do you have any Controller NOT on 7.8 yet? Does it say Radio? It's certainly about the Controller. Yes, it refers to the Radio: Oops... I forgot to update that message. Will be fixed in an upcoming build. But it's cosmetic only. I'm pretty sure it's your Controller causing the message. What firmware version are you running on the Controller (Einstellungen/Erweitert/Info)? Hi guys, updated now to LMS8.2 and using 8 Receivers, some with controllers, some via App. And one Classic. In server logs ist written that I have to use Version comparison fix too. Even if I dont use a Radio! I could install "Patch installer" as an Controller applet. But after install + restart there ist no comparison fix in Patch installers list. Are there more actions needed? Looking back at @thiemo posts, I'm wondering if Erland's server is down? I've just updated to latest docker.io/lmscommunity/logitechmediaserver:stable (8.2.1) I had repeated Radio disconnects so did a factory reset and installed the patch installer etc. However, when I go to install a patch at home>settings>advanced>patch installer all I get is 'bump; bump' (with matching audio). Patch Installer v: 1.2.36 Firmware v: 7.7.3-r16676 I have both: http://www.herger.net/slim-plugins/repo.xml http://www.herger.net/slim-plugins/test.xml repos installed, but understand neither should be necessary. Is there anything else to try. So, I installed the Version Comparison Fix back in March, and my two SB Radios are operating fine ever since. However, I have recently noticed that in LMS' Information tab, I see the following in Player Information: Information on all identified devices connected to Logitech Media Server You seem to be using a Radio with an outdated firmware, not recognizing this version of Logitech Media Server. Please consider patching it. 'Get more information.' (http://picoreplayer:9000/html/docs/radio-compatibility.html) Also, the server log file displays: [20-07-28 16:33:22.0511] Slim::Networking::Discovery::getFakeVersion (129) You're using a Radio with a buggy firmware not recognizing this version of Logitech Media Server. Please consider patching it. Until then we'll try to play nice and return a fake version number... Hallo zusammen! I am struggling with a similar problem as well. Upgraded to LMS 8.0 and got the message that my Squeezebox Radio should be patched. - Went to Settings/Advanced/Applet Installer and installed Patch Installer v. 1.2.36 - the Radio then rebooted - after reboot went to Settings/Advanced, but there was no menu item "Patch Installer" to be found (not even greyed out) I then downgraded LMS to version 7.9.3 and also repeated the steps above, alas with no success; basically I don't get the "Patch Installer" menu. Any ideas? I wish I had seen this thread yesterday! I put configured a mesh environment yesterday and started getting this message on my Radios. I wrongly assumed it was the Asus mesh causing the issues so went back to repeater mode which also gave this message. My wife then gave me an ear bashing for breaking something that was working! Ive now installed the patch and all is well with our Radios again. Happy wife = happy life! This thread has come very much in handy today after one of my Radios displayed the same behaviour. I downgraded LMS and updated the patch files on all Radios (and was reminded of a few little tweaks I had forgotten about!) and upgraded again to 8.0.0. I was able to find a solution to my problem. First, run the "Patch Installer"" with Version Comparison Fix" on Logitech Radio connected to LMS 7.9.2. This worked for me, too. Bizarrely, having updated to LMS 8.0.0 two days ago, with everything working, it was only this morning that the "x needs to be updated to a newer version of Logitech Media Server" message appeared on my Squeezebox Radio. Thankfully, a quick Google search found this page, and the solution worked perfectly first time on both devices. It's a shame it's not easier to discover new major releases of piCorePlayer and LMS. LMS 8.0.0 appears to have been released extremely stealthily. That said, I'd been wondring why my LMS system had not given me any update notifications for a few weeks. And, of course, let's point out how brilliant it is that my Squeezebox Radios are still going 10 years on from first buying them. On the Radio go to Settings/Advanced/Applet Installer, install the Patch Installer. The Radio will re-boot. Then I tried the same on Windows 10 - When using LMS 8.0.0 - same problem occurs Going back to LMS 7.9.3 everything works fine again. Radios do use the version 7.7.3 r16676. I did not find any newer version for baby. Any hints?
