[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Playback from Windows 10 using all 5.1 speakers?
I use Squeezelite-X for playback on my main desktop PC. I was wondering whether there was any way of sending audio to all of the surround speakers, rather than just the front two? My speakers are Cambridge Soundworks DTT2200. I use the onboard Realtek sound on my B450 Aorus Elite motherboard (which has separate outputs for front/rear/centre-sub). Squeezelite normally output 2 chan. It would be up to the Windows audio subsystem to convert 2.0 into 5.1 Have you checked the Windows speaker settings ? Windows recognises the 5.1 system. and I can test all 5 speakers successfully, but a stereo audio stream only plays back over the front 2 speakers. In Windows, there are a number of different audio subsystem so options may vary depending which one you are using. Various posts on forums indicates that on some system with "standard" Windows, system is set up to do 2.0 to 5.1 (these users were looking turn it off !) You should look for an option under Sound effects or Advanced setting or under speaker properties. If you can find the Microsoft High Definition Audio configuration then try High Definition Audio Device -> Properties -> Enhancements tab -> Speaker Fill I think that will convert stereo to 4.0 - i.e. the R/L Rears will be same as R/L Front. OK I think I've found a solution. I discovered and installed a Windows app called Realtek Audio Console.
