Maybe a couple of days stabilisation was required.

Now have run for multiple days using a remote server, windows and also a
Linux implementation, and using PiCore only as the player.

Further experimentation today and now running 10+ hours of play using
PiCore as player and server.

I’m so pleased. Sound quality is fantastic, using usb dragonfly, and
stability is now great after difficult start. Took me a while, and with
help from members here, to get the setup correct but now it’s working so
w3ll. And in addition I’ve got the lubuntu tried and tested as a backup
server.

Both lubuntu and pi are so much quicker than Windows! 35 mins for a
total scan on 12000 tracks on those platforms versus 8 hours on Windows
10 running on 8th gen i3 intel.

Hi Paul,
Tried that and no yellow led. Scan failed after about 170 tracks
scanned.

Tried again this morning and scanned 8700 of 9000 before crashing again
no sign of yellow led.

Ran another scan looking for changed only and this ran to completion.

The library stats are slightly different from my current Windows LMS
instance, seems to be about 100 tracks less on the pi lms.

Had a couple of crashes following the completion of the scan when I was
looking through the log files but I’ve left it idle now for about an
hour and no crashes.

So a step forward but still seems flaky.

Changed PSU and big improvement, reached roughly 20% of library this
time

Total Tracks: 2,192
Total Albums: 186
Total Artists: 246
Total Genres: 28

Library total is @ 12k tracks.

Now wondering if a bigger / faster card might be needed?

Also running on wireless, might try a switch to hard wire

About the only thing that would trigger something like that is a power
supply problem. You may not have seen that in player only mode, but
when using LMS, the CPU usage will increase and could require more power
than you can supply it.

I've uploaded the log file as requested.

I had set-up an 'artists artwork' folder and done a rescan and this
stopped the crashing for 'Album Artists' but not for 'All Artists' and
'Composers'.

To get it to crash I deleted the 'artists artwork' folder, unloaded the
'Music and Artist Info' plugin and did a rescan to get rid of images. I
then reloaded the 'Music and Artist Info' plugin and tried 'Album
Artists'.

LMS is now hanging as opposed to crashing out.

Thanks for the help.

Update: It appears to be the 'Music and Artist Information' plugin and
the setting 'Artists photos', i.e. when setting to 'Show pictures (can
slow down browsing)' and in the browsing menu setting the 'Albumview'
option to 'Small Artwork' causes the crash.

Can you confirm it happens when you browse items which have not been
pre-cached? I haven't been able to reproduce this yet. But there seems
to be a pattern.

I understood you want to replace the zettaly. If yes, my question was
why you are looking for an other android-based player. Instead you could
consider a RPi-based one. Lot of threads here about Rpi's.

Yes it's for my zettaly device which is a sort of android tab with
speakers. I rarely use it.
My other devices are a SQ Boom, a SQ3 and 2 sonos play1.

Any specific reason to look for an android-based lms player?

Yes 2Gb in less than 24h. I only have 3 or 4 items set on debug in
logging options.
As i say just beyond i think an android squeezeplayer is responsible of
multiple connnections/disconnections. After some hours the server starts
to crash and the plugins
too.

My lms has been running for long years too, but for one strange reason
it started to crash few months ago.
For now i have had no crash since yesterday. I have disabled my zettaly
(android squeezeplayer) as a shairtunes player.
I think the responsible is this player which connects and disconnects
continuously. I have to investigate more.
Have you a suggestion of an android player compatible with lms ?

You mean the server.log fills from 0 to 2Gb within less than a day? Did
you set some/many of the plugin log levels to DEBUG? If yes, revert them
for being able to spot more relevant error msgs first.

hi,

since i am running a debian lms for a very long time i can tell that i
never got any real isuse with the pure lms.

take a screenshoot with all your enabled plugins remove all of them and
add one plugin after the next until your lms hangs.
After that disable all plugins again and check the hanging plugin alone.

Would you have forwarded LMS ports to the internet in order to access it from
outside your home? If so, stop it. There are people out there exploiting such
configurations.

Hi,
I think I have found the responsible plugin: it's "Image Browser" V1.0
But it's impossible to remove it: I can disable it in the web interface
BUT when I update the LMS this plugin reappears and is activated

Thanks DjanGo
The issue with crashes seems to be solved even if the error message
remains (see my previous post)

Code:

$ perl -v
This is perl 5, version 22, subversion 2 (v5.22.2) built for
x86_64-linux-gnu-thread-multi
(with 67 registered patches, see perl -V for more detail)
  Copyright 1987-2015, Larry Wall

Result from *perl -V* 21953

Thanks for your reply Michael.
I've disable all unused plugins ans the server do not crash again even
if I there is always the error message in the log file:

Code:

2017-01-22 16:27:31 squeezeboxserver_safe started.
  [17-01-22 16:27:35.4781] main::init (388) Starting Logitech Media Server

The only third party plugin remaining is "WeatherTime Screensaver"
V2.2.2 from Martin Rehfeld
