[squid-users] Resource Unavailable
Hi all I have a strange problem. I have an Apache Webserver and Squid proxy on my local network. Everything has been working fine up till now and suddenly I cannot receive any web pages from the local server through squid. The webserver works fine, serving pages as normal with squid turned off, but with squid turned on, nothing! The cache log tells me: FD 11: no data to process ((11) Resource temporarily unavailable Squid still serves external pages fine and the speed increase is great, but it does not serve the local pages at all. I have read through the FAQ and tried various settings to no avail! Can anyone help? I am at my wits end. I have enjoyed using squid up till now and do not wish to change cache programs. Thanks in advance. Greg [EMAIL PROTECTED] Send instant messages to your online friends http://au.messenger.yahoo.com

RE: [squid-users] squid is restarting every 2 minutes
Hi There Check the disk space on the server Check the config to see when squid will clean the cache. Many times people will set up a partition for squid to use, lets say 10 GIG, and then set the cache_swap_low 90 and cache_swap_high 100. This will leave no space for the rotation of the cached files ( old files ) Regards Gert Brits -Original Message- From: Berg, Matthias [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, July 04, 2005 2:09 PM To: squid-users@squid-cache.org Subject: [squid-users] squid is restarting every 2 minutes Hello All, I have the following Problem. Re: [squid-users] Squid, Antivirus & Pf
Hello, I'm working on DansGuardian (dansguardian-2.8.0.3-antivirus-6.3.8) with clamav (0.86.1) for a few days and I'm becoming crazy : On OpenBSD 3.6, I've solved compilation problems with pthreads and libraries inclusions. Clamav runs correctly. When I use, in dansguardian.conf /virusengine = 'clamav'/ I get this error when running dguard : /LibClamAV Error: Can't gzdopen() descriptor 8 cli_untgz: No such file or directory LibClamAV Error: cli_cvdload(): Can't unpack CVD file. LibClamAV Error: Can't load /usr/local/share/clamav/main.cvd: CVD extraction failure/ I'm sure that all libraries work fine and cvd files are correct. When I use : / virusengine = 'clamdscan'/ dguard starts with no problems but it doesn't run clamdscan while downloading file. What can I do ??? Thx for Help ! AFAIK, delay pools can be implemented on a per host(s) basis, but perhaps you can do it per user if you modify source code, or maybe there is an easy way. I run squid-2.5STABLE10 and your requirement has never been a priority in my setup. One thing you should know, BTW: Most Open Source developers write code to solve their own problems, and then end up contributing it to the community, because in most cases noone pays them to write code ;) What I mean to say is that if the feature is not in squid, you'll have to motivate them to come up with it. So after google-ing, if you do not find a solution, think about what you can do to get it. I have not checked squid-3.0-devel. Perhaps it might have ways of implementing what you want. I have enabled ipf and pf transparent modes because I am in the process of migrating from IPFilter to pf. #!/bin/sh ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/squid3 \ --enable-delay-pools \ --enable-useragent-log \ --enable-referer-log \ --enable-arp-acl \ --enable-ssl \ --enable-forw-via-db \ --enable-cache-digests \ --enable-ipf-transparent \ --enable-pf-transparent \ --enable-large-files ... and 'make' fails with the following: depbase=`echo IPInterception.o | sed 's|[^/]*$|.deps/&|;s|\.o$||'`; \ if g++ -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -DDEFAULT_CONFIG_FILE=\"/usr/local/squid3/etc/squid.conf\" -I. -I. -I../include -I. -I. -I../include -I../include -I../lib /libTrie/include -I../lib/cppunit-1.10.0/include -I ../lib/cppunit-1.10.0/include-Werror -Wall -Wpointer-arith -Wwrite-strings -Wcomments -D _FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -g -O2 -MT IPInterception.o -MD -MP -MF "$depbase.Tpo" -c -o IPInterception.o IPInterception.cc; \ then mv -f "$depbase.Tpo" "$depbase.Po"; else rm -f "$depbase.Tpo"; exit 1; fi In file included from IPInterception.cc:74: /usr/include/net/pfvar.h:368:34: "not" may not appear in macro parameter list In file included from IPInterception.cc:74: /usr/include/net/pfvar.h:396: error: expected unqualified-id before '!' token IPInterception.cc: In function `int clientNatLookup(int, sockaddr_in, sockaddr_in, sockaddr_in*)': IPInterception.cc:87: error: aggregate `natlookup natLookup' has incomplete type and cannot be defined IPInterception.cc:89: error: `SIOCGNATL' undeclared (first use this function) IPInterception.cc:89: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once for each function it appears in.) Re: [squid-users] About Squid Delay Pools, help needed
Hi Abu Khaled, I am trying to understand delay_pools, but I am a little stucked, even after reading Squid FAQs and Visolve instructions. Could you please help me? >> acl client1 src 66.67.68.69/255.255.255.255 >> delay_pools 1 >> delay_class 1 2 >> delay_parameters 1 -1/-1 4000/50 >> delay_access 1 allow client1 >> delay_access deny all >> >> So second question is: what am I missing? > > Once the clients bucket fils up with 500KB the speed is droped to > 32Kbps no mater what file size he downloads/browses next and stays > that way until the bucket replenishes (stops downloading/browsing for > a while). So, the maximum will act like a kind of "bytes quota"? I mean, if the client reachs 4 Mbits, it will be dropped to 32Kbits/s, until it stops browsing/downloading and have its bucket replenished? How long (rate?) it will take to be replenished? If it is right, and I try: delay_parameters 1 -1/-1 8000/32000 ( I am using this line ) it means that, if my client just browse a big portal index (bigger than 256Kbits) it will be dropped to 64Kbits/s? I want to limit clients that keeps "downloading" (any kind of file), including sites with a lot of images and similars, without disturbing the ones that are doing their researchs without dragging my bandwidth. This rule applies to everybody. There is no way to separate users in groups. Are my ideias about delay pools correct or I am "lost"? Really thank you for your attention Regards, Freitas

So if you have a multiple-cpu box, the best way to exploit all the computing power is to run as many instances of Squid as the box has processors. Kinkie

I recommend also using your OS's CPU affinity selection. Prior to this, using RHAS3 on Hyperthreading Xeons, the scheduler was sometimes running two squids on the same physical unit. [squid-users] passport.com url error with Squid
Hi there, There following url spits causes an error in Squid: https://loginnet.passport.com/ppsecure/md5auth.srf?lc=1033 We get the following error message: ERROR The requested URL could not be retrieved While trying to retrieve the URL: /ppsecure/md5auth.srf?lc=1033 The following error was encountered: Invalid URL Some aspect of the requested URL is incorrect. Possible problems: Missing or incorrect access protocol (should be `http://'' or similar) Missing hostname Illegal double-escape in the URL-Path Illegal character in hostname; underscores are not allowed The url works when I do not use the proxy. The REALLY weird thing is that if I hit refresh, the page loads First attempt always fails with "invalid url" squid error. Any ideas why it would fail, yet refreshing or hitting GO a second time works? All other https sites seem to work. The url is what pops up when we click the button to check our Hotmail in MSN/Windows Messenger. But the url also fails when manually typing it in. Thanks in advance. Regards, Dietrich
[squid-users] Squid-WCCP Issue with Linux 2.6.12
I've been playing around with Squid (with WCCP on) in the older version of linux kernel (2.4.x) series and it always works fine. Recently i've attempted to install Squid (also with WCCP) on a newer box with the latest linux kernel (2.6.12.2). I've copied over the old configuration file (squid.conf) and try to up the gre tunnels similar to the way i've setup the old box. When i've started testing, the transparent proxy doesn't seem to be working well (in fact, not at all). I've then attempted to point my browser specifically to use the new linux box with squid , it work perfectly. This leads me to think that it might be that the gre tunnel is not communicating with my cisco router. Any help i can get on this one? Note: Please let me know if u need more info. Desperately need to get this up. Regards, Sam
