 Hi

Try Sarg. I use that as per the suggestion of some forum members here.
It is pretty good. Just google for sarg, it will take you there.

[squid-users] DNS test on start squidNT

2005-12-14 Thread Guillaume
hi, guys!
I have a new problem on a squidNT proxy, when the server start, in
cache.log i found these lines:
#
#2005/12/13 14:41:34| Performing DNS Tests...
#2005/12/13 14:41:34| DNS name lookup tests failed...
#
At this moment, my internet link was down, and squid refused to start.

2 questions :)

1] what are these DNS lookups

2] what can i do to let the service start even if the internet link is down

thanks for your replies
Guillaume

[squid-users] Redirects

2005-12-14 Thread Peter Fraser
I hope I'm using the correct forum for this question. Please correct me
if I'm not.
I would like to use two redirect_programs with squid.
1. Clamav virus scan
2. SquidGuard

I have squidguard running fine now. Is there any way for me to include a
second such as clamav antivirus?

[squid-users] Need help with openldap

2005-12-14 Thread jotacekm
Hi
I need touse a ldap base to authenticate squid users. I already have openldap
installed.
I searched the web and i saw a lot of people talking about ldap_auth in the
squid.conf file, but i dont have that ldap_auth file, and i cant seem to find it
anywhere!

Second thing, how do you guys create the openldap squid user database? Im
looking
for something like a squid.schema, is there such a schema? Or what should i do?
Thanks in advance.

Should come with Squid. In Debian for example it installs
as /usr/lib/squid/ldap_auth.

No need for a special schema. Use whatever you have/want and define
appropriate filters to query your directory.

Use this script as your redirector.

 Check the :

  dns_testnames

 directive in squid.conf.

 Try making the list empty.

Should come with Squid. In Debian for example it installs
as /usr/lib/squid/ldap_auth.

If you build your own squid the option is :
--enable-basic-auth-helpers to install all the basic authentication
helpers or you can use --enable-basic-auth-helpers=LDAP to install
only LDAP helper. Then you will find in libexec the program as
squid_ldap_auth.

[squid-users] squid uses its own IP address instead client IP Address

2005-12-14 Thread Vijayakumar Perumal
Hi,
I am T.P.Vijayakumar, I am seting up a web cache to
enhance my user experience( Note all my users are
having a valid public IP).

But It seems the squid uses its own IP address to
contact web servers. So that means all the HTTP
replies will come for the Squid Machines IP. Is it
possible to configure the Squid so that the requesting
IP will be of Clients's IP address instead of the
Squid's machine.

I am running squid/2.5.STABLE12 on a Fedora Core 4.
running wccp with my cisco 3660. WCCP other things are
working fine.

Hello,

As far as I known your situation is normal.
It shows the normal proxy philosophy and I don't think another way would
be better (for the cache, for security (firewall,...)).
