Hi Folks,
how to turn off caching of HTML?

Hello Andrew,

It can be done by using following ACL

acl html rep_mime_type -i text/html
cache deny html

where is this http_access rule in relation to your other http_access
rules?

dansguardian is a proxy, which means the connections
client<->dansguardian is completely different from the connection
dansguardian<->squid. So yes, ToS/DS marks set by Squid won't be
reflected into the client connection as this is only set on the
connection dansguardian<->squid.

To have ToS/DS marks on the client<->dansguardian you need to extend
Dansguardian to reflect the received ToS/DS key onto the client
connection. But unfortunately I know of no method whereby an application
can get the ToS/DS key from a TCP connection so it's kind of hard to
do..

[squid-users] How to just cache the default index.html page only?

2006-07-30 Thread fulan Peng

Hi,
I just want to cache up the web site only its index.html page. Then
the rest I will return back to its original web site. Can I do this?
Do I have to have rewrite the web page so that re-direct the links to
its original web site?

Thanks a lot!

Fulan Peng.

Dear all,

forgive me if my questions are too stupid. :)

I needed to "keep track" about the internet

installed a Knoppix and then Squid (Webalizer for
the reports).

Squid works fine, Webalizer too and the reports
are generated without any problem.

The problem is that I need a report about *who*
and *when* he/she surfs on the internet (not
really *what* he/she sees). Due to the fact that
it is the first time that I install Squid I saw in
the manual that this kind of things could be done
with an ACL (type "ident").

So I created in squid.conf the following:

acl users ident user1 user2 user3 ... user11
http_access allow users
ident_lookup_access allow users

The browser (Mozilla-Firefox) is properly set up
to use proxy, and Squid reports each page seen.

But it does not report about the users' names. Any
idea?

Thanks a lot

[squid-users] Does dansguardian modify TOS header?

2006-07-30 Thread Amir Ali Eshghi
Hello all,

I am using squid 2.5 stable with zero penalty patch
which markes cache hits with a custom value in TOS
header. I also have a custom tc class which redirects
cache hits to a custom class so that cache hits gets
maximum speed. However when I use dansguardian and
configure it
as a transparent proxy this shaping does not work. My
guess is that dansguardian somehow modifies TOS
headers. Can anyone help me fix this? Thanks.
