Hi

The company hosting the site have confirmed they are not having the
problem with any other client, apart from us:

Is there any tweaking with memory or something I need to do to get this
working ?

Squid did not receive any data for this request.

This error means that the web server closed the connection without
sending a response.

It's very hard to say why the web server does this, and the question is
best directed to the ones responsible for the site.

As I said the error indicates a web server server problem.

From where I can not reach eudract.eudra.org at all so it's hard for me
to look into more detail why the server is failing.

Hmm.. you could try
http://www.squid-cache.org/Versions/v2/2.6/changesets/11547.patch
might make a difference. This is a workaround to one class of broken
servers sending invalid responses which may result in the Zero Sized
Reply error from squid.

Your squid is trying to connect to localhost for some reason.
Check your cache_peer entries. If the request is meant to go through
an additional proxy, check that it's actually running.

Also check your DNS, in case squid's actually getting 127.0.0.1
back as the address of tinyurl.com.

Without more information about your setup squid configuration, we
can't provide more than very general hints.

Someone has defined, in DNS (but this doesn't seem to be the case) or
via /etc/hosts the IP address of www.dpbolvw.net to the loopback

squid's fault or problem in any way.

 Hi

This config u have suggested we use may not be able to support what we
like:

How would this access-list cope with a website like this:

http://nww.nhsmessaging.co.uk/ or

www.nhs.uk - this should go direct but

nww.nhs.uk needs to go to peer

acl NWW dstdom_regex \.?nww\.
acl NHS dstdomain .nhs.uk
cache_peer_access 3.3.3.3 allow NHS
cache_peer_access 3.3.3.3 allow NWW

 cache_peer_domain 3.3.3.3 parent nww. .nhs.uk

Hmmm... I don't think that text followed by a dot is valid syntax for
cache_peer_domain or dstdomain. I'd advise making a dstdom_regex acl
and using cache_peer_access for this peer. Something like...

acl NWW dstdom_regex \.?nww\.
acl NHS dstdomain .nhs.uk
cache_peer_access 3.3.3.3 allow NHS
cache_peer_access 3.3.3.3 allow NWW
never_direct allow NWW

...in addition to the other rules you have listed.
 cache_peer_domain 1.1.1.1 parent .gsi.gov.uk cache_peer_domain 2.2.2.2

 parent .gsi.gov.uk

 acl NHS dstdomain nww. .nhs.uk

Obviously, this ACL should be adjusted as shown above.
 acl GSI dstdomain .gsi.gov.uk

 cache_peer_access 3.3.3.3 allow NHS
 cache_peer_access 1.1.1.1 allow GSI

 never_direct allow NHS
 never_direct allow GSI

When trying to access http://nww.nhs.uk this goes via the correct path

You need to tell us which version of Squid you're running.

How did you install the earlier release?

Generally just follow the same procedure for installing the new version,
then restart Squid to activate the new version. This assuming you are
running 2.6.STABLE1.

Henrik

Hiya,

upgrade to the latest 2.6-stable snapshot. I believe that bug has been
fixed and Squid-2.6stable2 won't suffer from it.

That's why you've been requested to file a bug report the 'specified'

We are running Squid Suse 10.1

On SUSE Linux, you do not need to configure a cron job executing squid
-k.
Log file rotation is done automatically using logrotate. The
configuration file for the Squid logfiles is /etc/logrotate.d/squid. It
contains information when and how to rotate the following files:

* /var/log/squid/cache.log
* /var/log/squid/access.log
* /var/log/squid/store.log

By default, they are rotated depending on their size. If you have
configured any other log files (or modified the names), just include
them here. A description of the syntax is available in the man page of
logrotate.
logrotate is run via a cron job daily (have a look at
/etc/cron.daily/logrotate)

Regards,

Peter

RE: [squid-users] How to rotate logs in Squid

2006-07-20 Thread Mehmet, Levent \(Accenture\)
Hi Peter

Thanks

Yes you are correct we installed our own self - compiled squid which is
why I don't see the files.

I shall install this package. Do you think there would be any confiction
with the live squid running if I perform this task

Thanks once again

The file will only be installed if you install the Squid package:

merkur2:~ # rpm -qf /etc/logrotate.d/squid
squid-2.5.STABLE12-18.2

Well, this is from SLES 10 which is based on SUSE Linux 10.1. I don't
have a SUSE Linux 10.1 around but it should be the same package.

So please install this package from your installation media and even if
you decide to use your own Squid (self-compiled), you can use the
configuration file for logrotate. If I can be of any additional help,
please let me know.

Regards,

Peter

[squid-users] Peer Timeout

2006-07-13 Thread Mehmet, Levent \(Accenture\)

Hi

I have a peer below which works for a few seconds then stops: Please see
the error I receive:

When successful: www.abc.ia.uk - TIMEOUT_FIRST_UP_PARENT/1.1.1.1

When unsuccessful: www.abc.ia.uk NONE - text/html

cache_peer 1.1.1.1 parent 80 80 proxy
cache_peer_domain 1.1.1.1 parent abc.ia.uk

cache_peer_access 1.1.1.1 allow abc
never_direct all abc

If I increase the dead_peer_timeout it works but once its timed out it
never works again until I restart the services. Have I missed a
configuration somewhere ?
