[squid-users] squid 2.6 stable 19 not authenticating following full root volume and reboot
Hello, I am having a new issue with my squid box. I run two instances of squid on one box. This was set up for me by Visolve. I am running 2.6 Stable 19 on both instances. I use smb_auth to authenticate users against two AD domains, hence two squid instances. My box went down, with a full disk. I removed about 17GB of older logfiles and rebooted. Now I am unable to authenticate. My cache.log files are showing 'sh: /dev/null: Permission denied' I am more then happy to post config files, or give any additional info that may help. [squid-users] Video players not proxy aware
Good morning, I am having an issue with squid 2.6 stable 19. Many video players on the Mac are not proxy aware, and fail to show a login screen for the new video window. Is there a simple way to resolve this from squid, rather then putting an an acl in for each domain, with an allow? We do require all users to authenticate prior to access. -Steven E.
[squid-users] Searching squid logs for pornographic sites
I am looking for a tool that will scan the access.log file for pornographic sites, and will report the specifics back. We do not block access to any Internet sites, but need to monitor for objectionable content. What I am doing now is just greping for some key words, and dumping the output into a file. I am manually going through about 60,000 lines of log file, following my grep. 99% of these are false. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you all. -Steven E.
[squid-users] Squid instance starting and then stopping
Good morning! One of my two instances of squid is failing today. It appears to start normally, but then it will stop within a couple of seconds. I am a running 2.5.STABLE3 Any guesses? I am at a loss... -Steven E.
[squid-users] 2.5.STABLE3 performance issues
Hello, I am a network manager at a school. I am not very versed with squid, and I inherited this installation, with the job. We have two separate instances of squid running on the same box, each looking at a different IP address. Each authenticates users against its own separate AD domain, and logs usage. I am having some performance issues with both of the instances. I have a 10Mbps pipe to the Net, but I can only get ~600kbps at any workstation, when there is no traffic. If I circumvent the proxy, I can get 9+Mbps, without a problem. Any ideas where I should begin my search for performance improvements? I can send copies of my .conf files to anybody interested in helping. They are large, as all of the descriptive text is still there. Thank you. -Steven E.
