Re: [squid-users] How to Squid-Websense
I personelly don't want to install the server policy or other websense components on the same box as the proxy server just because I have websense already running on a w2k3 machine. i don't want to change the architecture already implemented. Thanks fr your suggestion. --- Brett Lymn [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: On Mon, Mar 07, 2005 at 01:47:43PM -0500, Corey Tyndall wrote: I get the same error when entering in Filtering service IP addr. Yes, install the policy server on the linux machine and push the policy to the linux machine. I am not entirely sure why you don't want to do this. At the risk of sounding like a Websense salesdroid, the Websense infrastructure is quite flexible and can be distributed quite well. You _can_ centralise your policy management and push the policy to the squid proxies. You _don't_ have to run the network agent on the same machine, you _can_ send your logs to the win2k machine. Why do you both insist on making the win2k box do everything when it does not need to? -- Brett Lymn Le nouveau Yahoo! Messenger est arrivé ! You need to install the websense plug-in for squid in every proxy server that you want to communicate with websense. To install this plug-in, you need to run the websense setup program for linux on the server proxy, then choose iegrated as setup type... Re: [squid-users] How to Squid-Websense
Sorry, here is the complete link: http://ww2.websense.com/docs/support/documentation/setup/v55/WSInstall_Squid.pdf But it is related to the websense 5.5 version. To redirect trafic to the websense server running on a w2k box, you should install the squid plug-in on your proxy server. To do this, run the websense installation program on your squid proxy box, choose custom installation, then Filtering Plug-in from the list of components to install. These steps are described on the pages 67 68 of the document above. I think your network configuration may look like the configuration given on page 20. I tryed to do the same thing but when I enter the IP address of the Filtering Service box (during the installation of the plug-in), I get the following message: The Filtering Service provided does not support a remote plug-in. Select another Filtering Service. I still can't solve this problem. So if your installation will succeed, please let me know. Best regards --- Corey Tyndall [EMAIL PROTECTED] a écrit : That link does not work for me. Is the whole link there? Also you do not have to run websense on the linux box right? [squid-users] To Squid-Websense Users, please help
Hello, I try to integrate websense with a squid proxy server. I installed websense entreprise components (Policy Server, User Service, Websense Entrepris Manager, Filtering Service and Network Agent) in a W2K3 machine and I installed Squid in a RedHat 9 machine. I am now trying to install the websense's squid plug-in. But when I enter the Filtering Service machine's IP address, I get the following message The Filtering Service provided does not support a remote plug-in. Select another Filtering Service. However, my websense Filtring Service is started and I managed to communicate with the Policy server during the previous steps of the squid's plug-in installation process. May anyone help me. Thanks a lot. Découvrez le nouveau Yahoo! Mail : 250 Mo d'espace de stockage pour vos mails ! Créez votre Yahoo! Mail sur http://fr.mail.yahoo.com/

Re: Fw: [squid-users] How to Squid-Websense
Thank you very much for your consideration. I actually want squid to redirect parameters (that it saves in its cache directory) to the websense server (installed on W2k3). So you think that I need to install the websense plugin for squid on the proxy server. Then squid will be able to redirect parameters to the websense server? Do I need to add any configuration to the websense server? Thanks a lot. --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] a écrit : We are running Websense 5.5 on RH9 with all components, but we used to only run the redirector to a Win2K Server. If you just want squid to run the redirector, you do the following: Have squid running prior to all of this, without any user authentication at this point. Create a folder called /tmp/Websense551 Put your Websense551Setup_Lnx.tar.gz file in your /tmp/Websense551 and un-tar it. cd to /tmp/Websense551, run ./install.sh. This is an installshield wizard, so it's pretty simple. The install does get redundant in its questions, sometimes. You will be doing a custom installation. You will choose to only do an integration install, and install the Websense plugin for squid. This should be option #4 during the custom install. You will be prompted for the IP address of your policy server and filtering server (the Win2K3 box), as well as the port. Check your in-house configurations and the Websense manual in pdf form for the Win2K3 installation. The installshield will automatically update your squid.conf with the redirector information. Hope this helps, if not, let me know. I know politics are often involved, but if you can swing it, you should really run the whole thing on one box if possible. It is much cleaner, and can still be administrated via the gui console from a windows client.
