I do remember seeing this with some broken patch. Exact details long
forgotten.

Try upgrading to 2.5.STABLE8 + DNS patch.

[squid-users] Mandrake's squid crashes spectacularly...

2005-02-19 Thread Paul Seaman
I have had two boxes (nearly identically configured) with the same updated
Mandrake 10.1 squid packages crash today with the following message in
cache.log:

"assertion failed: MemBuf.c:188: "mb->buf && mb->max_capacity &&

Does anyone have any ideas? Obviously it sounds like a memory error of some
type- might it be something in squid.conf? I've been using essentially the
same squid.conf for literally years on this hardware. One machine is a
P4/1GB RAM configured with cache_mem 256 MB, the other is a P3/512MB RAM
configured with cache_mem 128MB. I was also wondering if using the internal
DNS mechanism is a good or bad idea in these recent versions of Squid.

Thanks,
Paul
