The rsync and FTP services of squid-cache.org are always available and
up to date.

The actual 403 from www service lasts for less than ~2min every few
hours at ~10 past the hour when sync happens on just 1 of the 5 servers.
If peoples systems are caching error pages for long times we can't do
much about it.

I do not know the reason but it seems that:

have couple things which can solve the issue using the:

- Added the --usermap/--groupmap/--chown options for manipulating file

I will try to update the bugzilla report later to have this info with hope that
it will be resolved.

Even two hours is acceptable!
If someone requires the squid sources I have it on my own web
service at:

And in general it is up to date for the stable but it takes me time
to be in "real time" sync with the project since work times are
different for me and the other project voluntaries and

Hey Yuri,

I will try to put up a "status" page for some of the project web
services in order to describe\explain the current status of the down
time.

How long is it "long enough" that you mean\know?

If for example the project page would be down for a whole day as a
rest day it would be acceptable if the work days and hours are
during the week.
If the case is that an upgrade\update of systems is done only on
weekends without preparations during the week then it would be very
acceptable to not have down time during the weekend.

I do not know RedHat or SUSE and others policy of
updates\upgrades\patches and other things but they do not reveal to
me their "secret" for high up-time.
My assumption is that it requires more "time" more "work hours" more
"voluntaries" and many other things which are too much for a single
human to handle by himself alone.

Re: [squid-users] squid-cache.org misconfigured

2016-04-10 Thread Eliezer Croitoru
Hey Yuri,

I filled a bug report about this couple times and the answer that I received
and is the actual case is:
There is a sync process to the squid-cache mirror\cache web servers.
Since the synchronization "reset" the permissions of the files apache cannot
access the web page files.
Due to this we see a forbidden access page when accessing once in a while,
while the sync is done.

I do not know this specific system and I think that with the budget and tools
of the project it's OK to have this kind of "down" time.

Some browsers (Chrome?) will help by prepending www on the front for you...
if you type just squid-cache.org it will turn it into
http://www.squid-cache.org and you won't see the problem. Maybe this only
happens if you have previously visited www.squid-cache.org, or maybe it tests

should be no probem - you can just define two parent proxies and
disable direct access to the network.

in fact, you don't have to map anything, just use those two proxies.

I think i must be use
 cache_peer
 cache_peer_access
  tcp_outgoing_address

is squid running on the machine with multiple interfaces?

I tink that in such case you don't need to define tcp_outgoing_address,
the OS can take care of that.

Dear Sir or Madam,

Firstly i would like to apologize to my poor english

 eth0 is for LAN

eth1 is for A internet connection It can

eth2 is for B internet connection It can only
use Parent-B upstream parent proxy server

I user Fedora Core 10 and Shorewall Firewall (www.shorewall.net) .

Shorewall automatically load balance and failover outgoing
internet gateway.

Now i want to set up squid proxy server.

My problem is that each internet connection has seperate
parent proxy. They can only use their corresponding Parent proxy
server.

So i want to route, match or map A internet gateway request

I think i must be use

[squid-users] squid-users@squid-cache.org

2006-03-15 Thread Jay Desjardins

Good afternoon,

I have been working on a new squid/Smart Filter/tproxy setup for our
campus and have run into a few problems. One is that I am using
squid-2.5-stable-9 because of SmartFilter (our campus wide filter) being
finicky on what version of squid that I am running. Another note is I
need to have Tproxy because the squid server is in between our users and
a packeteer, so I need for the packeteer to see the IP of the request so
users can be put into their own bucket for priority. The packeteer
won't transparent proxy, so I get all the same ip which means I can't
create different rules on the proxy server. That means I need to do some
work on the firewall to create allow all rules, this just complicates
things greatly.

current setup = users - firewall with tproxy - packeteer - squid
server with SmartFilter (which also defeats some of the rules in the
SmartFilter because of the same ip of the packeteer) - firewall -
Internet

  What I want to do = users - squid/tproxy/smartfilter - packeteer -
firewall - Internet
This way I can slim down the firewall rules for allow all access and
less lag going thru because it's more of a strait shot then a loop.

  I got this patch,
http://www.squid-cache.org/mail-archive/squid-dev/200510/0161.htm and I
have tried to install it on my Red Hat EL4 server, to no avail. I found
myself having to manually install the patch, with it still producing
many errors (H and C files not matching up/incorrect syntax). It also is
using X-forward which I don't want to use.
I would really like to get this running correctly, within the limits
I have (with only being able to run a few versions of squid).

Thank you,
Jay

How far have you got in applying the patch?

Have you got the kernel TPROXY support working? Only having Squid
patched with TPROXY support isn't of much use unless you have the
netfilter TPROXY patch in the kernel which the Squid TPROXY support
relies upon...

Changing the Squid TPROXY patch to use the actual client IP is simple,
mainly a matter of dropping the HRD_X_FORWARDED_FOR section and using
request-client_addr instead of the request-xfwd_ip when setting the
outgoing IP..

I would really like to get this running correctly, within the limits
I have (with only being able to run a few versions of squid).

Note that by running a Smart Filter modified Squid you effectively
terminate any support from the Squid developers should you run into any
problems... we simply cannot support tracking problems in Squids having
such heavy proprietary modifications where we can not see the changes.

If not the CA signed certificate is not formatted properly..

[squid-users] Unofficial root CAs with squid squid-users@squid-cache.org

Hi.

I'm using Squid Version 2.5.STABLE6 in this configuration:
 Internet -HTTPS- squid -HTTP- Intranet

It works *perfectly* with a self-signed certificate.

However, if I sign a certificate with my own CA certificate, created using
the -newca option to CA.pl, it doesn't work, and I get the following
error:
 FATAL: Bungled squid.conf
The error goes away when I switch back to my self-signed certificate -
only a certificate signed by my own CA certificate does not work.

To try and find out why, I set up a secure website using Apache's httpd. I
added the SSLCACertificateFile directive, and it worked perfectly. I just
had to accept the certificate.

I tried various option to get squid to accept the CA, some of them
probably made up:
 sslflags=DONT_VERIFY_PEER
 cafile=/path/to/cert
 ca=/path/to/cert

Thinking squid couldn't take an argument to a different CA file, I
appended my CA cert to the ca-bundle.crt file, making sure the format was
exactly the same as the other certs in the file, i.e. an x509 part then
the cert.

squid -k parse still complained.

What do I need to do to get this working?
(I'm not able to patch squid because of automatic updates.)

I'm running FC3.

Thanks a lot.

This is the main purpose of the bucket size in delay pools, to give users
credit for idle time to allow full speed access to small objects only
limiting bandwidth if the user is continously sucking up the bandwidth.
