   Hello all,

Our dealing room is trying to read some video streaming on
www.cnbc.com
( Menu Video / Click on a Video ) but we encounter lots of
problems with
it because we cannot view these videos.

Do Windows Media Player streaming video work on other sites?

If I look at videos on other sites like Youtube.com, we do not get any
 problem

Youtube uses flash, not Windows Media Player.

If I try http://videodetective.com, we do not get any problem. After
looking for a while, I suspect we get some problems due to ntlm
authentication but we get a problem with it. We tried to put some sites
without authentication but when clicking on videos, URL destinations are
changing from video to video.

So I do not know how we will solve the problem.

Regards
Henrik

We are using Squid-2.5-STABLE12 and it is not working. We also tried it
with a very light config on Squid-2.6-STABLE12 on Ubuntu and we get
 exactly the same problem.

Finally if you try this on a classic w2k desktop with Internet Explorer,
we do not get any problem. I looked at the headers, mime-types but do
not find anything that can explain this blocking situation.

Have you turned off the usual suspects? ECN and Window Scaling?

Adrian

What do you mean by ECN and Window Scaling. I only know about ECN
(TCP/IP Network Congestion) and Windows Scaling at layer 3 not layer 7
(Squid level) ?

Thanks to give me further info ..

Squid running at Layer 7 is also bitten by any problems at the lower
layers between the host where Squid is running and the destination
server..

So many Squid proxies is bitten by firewalls mishandling ECN and/or
window scaling, simply because the TCP/IP implementation of the host
where Squid is running is more advanced than most desktop OS:es and
actually tries to make use of these useful additions to TCP..
