RE: [squid-users] Yet Another Can't Open Website

2007-01-09 Thread Dave Rhodes
Henrik,
Since applying the patch, I have found several broken websites. The
response from these servers changed from TCP_MISS/200 to TCP_MISS/100.
After backing out the patch, the servers work again. One notable site
is www.barnesandnoble.com. It works until you try to add something to
your cart. The other site is an internal site here that you would not
be able to test from outside. In that case, when a search string is
entered, the TCP_MISS/100 shows up in the logs.

Any chance you can modify the patch?
Thanks,
Dave

Hello
With this patch should work correct with originservers http/1.1?
Although squid still http/1.0 and IE must be configured to use

Thanks

That's the intention. But it's still a quite crude patch.

Although squid still http/1.0 and IE must be configured to use
 http/1.0 in proxy connection.

IE works fine when set configured to use HTTP/1.1 via Squid proxies.

Not having that option set will make IE very confused if it receives a
compressed reply which can happen on some web sites not sending a proper
Vary header.

Not at this time.

Quite a bit remains before Squid really could claim HTTP/1.1. The
mentioned patch is only a small but important step along the way, and
additionally is cheating quite a bit to workaround other missing
pieces..

Thanks again Henrik, having a problem applying the patch though. Copied
and pasted the patch into squid 2.6 source dir as squid-http11.patch.
CD to source dir and issued the command: patch -pl
./squid-http11.patch

Got the following: patch: strip count l is not a number

Tried a few odds and ends to get it to run but no luck. Any advice?
Thanks,
Dave Rhodes

Indeed.. site seems quite broken wrt http/1.0 clients..

You can try the patch found at

it's designed for a different purpose, but may solve your problem as
well. The patch is a first step towards making Squid-2.x HTTP/1.1.

require an HTTP/1.1 function that squid does not yet support. I'd like

The site is broken and responds with chunked encoding in response to
HTTP/1.0 requests (a MUST NOT requirement in the HTTP specifications).

Most likely works if you drop the Accept-Encoding header.
