It depends; if focus of the analysis is to understand squid's
efficiency at caching, it probably is. If it is to analyze users'
behaviour, probably somethign else (webalizer or similar) is probably
better.

Well, I can see which domains they surf to. Counts as behaviour, if
you ask me.

I'm not saying it can't; my point is, there is no "better" thing, it
depends on the specific needs.
The website and/or the wiki have a "related software" section which is
a good starting point, but a bit of search is in order anyways.

You can try SARG written by Pedro Lineu Orso.

Hi Michael,

I haven't used it in a while but FunnelWeb was pretty nice. I think
it has a GeoLocation database and it generates nice graphs.

just a question around squid, what do you use for analysing your logs?

I try to use sarg, but if the report is been sent by mail, the Internet
page report is not generate (without error with the -z option).

So do you have a log analyser preference with html page ?

Thanks a lot .

The problem is because of magic 1024 number :)
Problem will be fixed in next release, stay tuned...

Hi,

nice tool, thanks!

Just in case you haven't noticed there is a minor 'off-by-one' alignment

problem in Traffic by Hours-table right before 1000 MB gets transformed
to
1.0 GB:

  1.0GB==
1006.1MB == == == ==
950.2MB == == == ==

Luca,

Most likely you haven't set proper 'time_offset' parameter in header of
scalar.awk script, seems I left 4 as default. (Sorry, it just a my time
zone)
Try to modify and repeat your analysis...

Btw, Do you have any feedbacks and/or suggestions for further 1.x
version development?

Regards,

Yuri

PS: New version will be available in few following days...

Hello,
I'm sorry to distub you..
I downloaded SCALAR file, I've installed it and I've tried to use it. I
note a little problem. I try to analyze an access.log.0 file (the log
file of yesterday) But, when I launch the program the report is created
with a wrong date. (the example reported below)

Log Start Time [16-10-2003 15:28:49]
Log End Time [17-10-2003 00:48:37]

Any idea?

Thank you very much for your attention and your collaboration.

Best regards,

Luca
