Hi Susan ;

The airgun community is moving away from CO2 and going to compressed
air. At least on the higher (Olympic style guns for that reason).

I personally haven't heard of anyone using kerosene for Gauge1. I
know it works well for larger gauges. There are several 1" and 1 1/2" oil
burners running at the Pennsylvania Live Steamers. However, with the ease
and availability of alcohol firing, it's something to think about.
