Re: Climax pics
Trent, Yes, they're Mel's trucks. While it's true he has shut down the Vest Pocket Climax production, he will supply the castings if there are enough orders to justify a run. His casters need a minimum quantity before they will do a run. I'm out of trucks right now and until I get any orders for Climaxes I don't plan on ordering any more castings. However, if enough guys are interested we could perhaps pool our requests and getup enough demand to give the casters a reasonable order. I know someone who wants some universals and cardan shafts. So if anyone on the list is interested in a set of truck castings from Mel email me and we can see if we can get a critical mass together. Re: Climax pics
Hello Keith, Great pics and information. Thanks for sharing them. I'd like to finish my latest Class A, but some of you know my past experiences with them. No fault to the Climax, just bad things happen to them when they're in my possession. High Noon Vest Pocket Climax trucks? Are these some of Mel Ridley's trucks? If not, do you sell them as kits or only as assembled trucks? If they're some of Mel's, are they still available? I was under the impression that once they were all gone, they were gone (and they've been gone for a while). Thanks in advance for the info. I used 1/16" wire, and part of its length slides in a 1/16" ID brass tube. I soldered one end of a coil spring to the brass tube, and the other end to a collar soldered to the wire. The spring was one from a ball point pen. Put the servo and valve gear in mid position before soldering the final end of the spring. The spring is stiff enough for the servo to move the valve gear from forward to reverse, but when the valve gear reaches its limit, the servo can move a bit further by stretching or compressing the spring, rather than pushing against a hard stop. Try to get the lever arms to the right lengths first, then add the spring to be sure you aren't straining the servo. -- Bill Kaiser [EMAIL PROTECTED] There are three ways to do a job: good, cheap, and quick. You can have any two. A good, cheap job won't be quick. A good, quick job won't be cheap. A cheap, quick job won't be good.
Climax pics
For those that like logging locos and Climax engines I've added some pictures sent to me by Noel Crawford of his Mulberry Climax and Catatonk Shay to the gallery page at http://www.fls.org.jm/users/mulberry/gallery.html The new pics are at the bottom. The link form Jamaica is sometimes slow, so be patient! Re: Midwest Live Steam up
Hello group, Is anyone from Northern/Central Ohio going to the Midwest Steam up next month? I have a non-smoking room with 2 double beds reserved, and I would be willing to swap room space for a ride. I live in Columbus Ohio, (right on the way if you are taking 70 W). I would also be able to drive a rental car (my wife and Kids will need ours) if many folks want to caravan. Terry Griner Columbus Ohio USA
