A real shock to say the least.

He will be greatly missed.

Re: Whitemetal Castings

2001-07-04 Thread bowdler

Thanks Harry, Vance, Kevin and Trent,
I always appreciate the diversity of advice one receives on this
list.
A progress report: I soldered extensions on the mounting tabs of
the Trackside cooling pipes on which to mount the Ozark air tank
shortened to the appropriate length. I drilled holes in the running
board and mounting tabs and drilled and taped the whitemetal ends of the
Ozark tank for .080" bolts which will come up through the running board
and hold the tank and pipes on. 3/32" brass rod was used to make the
connections to the tank and under the boiler to the air pump from the
cooling pipes. Those parts were then soldered to the cooling pipes.
All is removable for replacement / repair.
I've decided to order a Trackside air pump as I was told the
detailing and crispness is better than the Ozark one so I'll wait for
that to make an appropriate bracket.
Additionally I have a large and small TD tool box. I got the
large one ready by soldering in plates of brass which were drilled and
taped for holes in the running boards. I then soldered on the top of the
toolbox. All of the parts have been painted and are ready to install.
I'll give it a good testing at the Central New York garden railway
weekend this Saturday where Ron Brown and I are giving a live-steam demo
/ clinic. It should be lots of fun.
Thanks again,
Tom
