Re: Asian Grocery Butane Adapter

2005-01-27 Thread Vance Bass
One of the steamers running at Marc Horovitz' garden railway convention
open house had a simple one made from a piece of nylon rod. It was
about an inch long with a passage drilled through the middle and
appropriately sized holes for the Ronson valve and the can's neck on
either end. Worked just fine.

Mike O'Rourke provided an exender with his Crickets that was just a
couple of pieces of brass tubing soldered together. The main length was a
piece with the right I.D. for the Ronson valve, with a short (~ 1/4") piece
at the top to mate to the can. (This was to extend the conventional butane
valve, but the principle is the same.)

Hi Tom, I believe that Royce at Quisenberry Station is supposed to have
adapters to fit these cans. I was looking to get one myself.Earle Jones

Asian Grocery Butane Adapter

2005-01-27 Thread Thomas E Bowdler
Fellow steamers,
I was able to get some butane from an asian grocery store near my
son's home in MD. It is indeed inexpensive but the neck is too short to
reach down to the top of the cab-mounted tanks on most of my locos. What
are you using for adapters that function like the screw on adapters for
Coleman/Primus gas cans?
Thanks,
Tom

Accucraft's New SP 060 Switcher Colors

2005-01-27 Thread Don Plasterer
Calling all SP Fans,
I'm interested in the new Accucraft live steam SP 060 switch engine. I was
wondering if anyone on the list knows what shade of blue will be used on the
engine. I asked Cliff at Accucraft and he said the color specs were all in
China. He thought our list mom had done the color research but mom said no.

Apparently the SP yard crews had too much time on their hands and took to
painting their engines as they saw fit. Cliff said someone in the San
Francisco area had done the research and given the colors to Accucraft. I
thought it would be nice to have a picture before spending any money!
