Re: Question about lubricators

2004-06-16 Thread John sIMON
It should work OK Jon with the 1/16" tube, just make sure that the movement
from the lubricator to the point of entry in the stemline is all downhill. So
to speak.
The lubricators in the Accucraft are a displacement type ie the steamline goes
through the lubricator with just a small hole for the oil to enter.
My Coffee Pot has a Dead leg type lubricator on it and it works perfectly.

How do I learn more about the Larry Bangham whistles? How can he be

Cabeese and other questions.

2002-12-14 Thread John Simon
Well ladies and gentlemen, I've just spent the last two and a half/three hours
sitting in the back yard with the radio controlled Bachmann Shay (sparkie)
running around and I'm delerious (sp) with the atmosphere. Consider this,
it is just after sunset and you have the loco with it's headligh and of course
the caboose has the tri-coloured lights at the other end. The C&S coach also
has lights but, you know not as good as they should be, but they will be
fixed. And then the photo-volatictic lights in the garden ( what there is of
it!) come on...
A glass half full of a magnificient Traminer Reisling and .

OK fo the Two Foot Foamers: What type of coaches did SR&RL use? Did they
use a Combine type of coach? ( a type that I'd dearly like to acquire)
Also as I'm building a generic caboose at the moment to go behind the next
loco that arrives, what type of cabooses did SR&RL use please?

I just hope that I haven't started another war! B-)

Re: oz

2002-12-09 Thread John Simon
Hm! Seems that I've really started something. My main hobby is radio
comms, and the letters OZ are the Call letters for radio and the prefixes for
aircraft registration etc for Denmark. So when someone says "I'll meet you
in OZ on Wednesday." I'll immediatly jump on an aircraft and head for
Denmark. So to speak.
The use of NZ and UK are OK as they are the first letters of those countries
names. I have always been the od one out in most groups I frequent either as
having no interest in sport or being too technical on the specific subject.

What other people use in their venaccular references within their own specific
groups is of little interest to me so can we get back to the real interest of
small scale live steam loco's. I'm sure they are more interesting than my
hangups on the use or misuse of the various variations of the language we call
English.

Hi Tag, please don't refer to Australia as Oz. This crude reference was
used/made up by some uneducated Melbournians in the 1970's and as far as I'm
concerned the letters OZ are the radio Call letters or aircraft prefix for
Denmark. Gordon Watson of Argyle Loco Works is the bloke you are referring

Re: Steam oil

2002-12-08 Thread John Simon
Many thanks for all of the replies that I received re the steam oil question.
I live in "God's Country" Australia. On the east coast about 80 miles south
of Sydney in a town called Dapto, whis is about 7 miles (12Km) south of
Wollongong.
At the moment I'm hanging out for the delivery of an AccuCraft Shay to go with
the radio controlled Bachmann Shay.
Only a short 150' loop of track at the moment but I am adding to it.

Steam oil

2002-12-08 Thread John Simon
Hi All, I wonder what steam oil is being used in Gauge #1 and Gauge #0 loco's.
I've been using some #460 steam oil that I acquired but it is just about
finished. I have access to #600 steam oil but I think that that might be a
little too heavey for my Roundhouse SR&RL #24 loco. Comments please.

Hey I like that!
How deep do you have to mine for these little critters?
Seeing that they are related to Clams, and according the an old BC comic strip
Clams have legs. Why not just take up rounding up Clams? Much easier I
would have thought. B-)

When you can bounce radio signals off these little bits of rock and have your
