OK Clark,

Re Allegheny--Thanks, we are on course! Phil Paskos sends his check on
April 1. (Could you make it April 2 Phil??) and knowing Phil, it will
probably be a very, VERY large one. It should also cover the expenses you
mention and Bob's expenses plus maintenance of his portable track. Gotta
go, gotta open a special account for Phil's check.

Lovallegheny, aint it,

Geoff.

Joe, re Allegheny, I don't quite recall, but I believe I offered to accept
funds and take delivery for a three months test and evaluation and then I
would send it to Clark Lord for his three to six months repair and
evaluation.

Interested parties should send their contributions to the following address:

Neverneverton,

Partners will receive the loco for tests after sufficient funds for the
purchase have been received. Delivery will be made to partners in the order
that their checks are received.

So HURRY!

Absolutely. I would work diligently to become an expert on coal
firing. That might take some time to sort it all out. I could put on
traveling exhibitions at the various meets. I, of course, would have to
be compensated for travel and lodging expenses out of the general
maintenance fund provided for during the initial purchase. I might have
to travel to Canada and visit Dan Pantages so he could coach me on how
to run a big engine on his friends layout.

see what could have been, might still or may be the first custody
schedule ever for a 1:32 live steam locomotive.

That's a lot of money although I am sure that it is worth it.

Re: Aster Allegheny

Hi,
I presume we are talking about the H8. Although there is some controversy
about it, I recall reading about C&O suing the builder because the last run
of H8's were over weight and over size. The result being that the H8 is a
little longer, higher, and heavier than the Big Boy! Most cocktail RR books
claim the Big Boy as the largest locomotive ever built.
I'm the custodian of a gauge 1 Allegheny H8 marketed by Fine Arts Models in
Michigan. It is a sparkie, but it is really a good looking loco on the SWAMP
trackage. Yes, it will traverse the reverse curve that has no lead-in or
easement.
Another Fine Arts Model in my keeping is the working model of the PRR 369000#
wreck crane. Both hooks operate independently, Boom raises & lowers, self
propelled, whistle and bell on command. Both are pure eye candy if you like
fine detail in 1:32 models and can overlook the electric power aspect.
Keep your steam up!

There is also an Allegheny at the Henry Ford Museum in Greenfield
Village near Detroit, as I recall. And, don't forget the fine book on
the subject published by the "Mainline Modeler" folks ("Allegheny:
Lima's Finest" I believe is the title). Charles
