  Subject: help on drop hammers...anyone?

Hi there with the hammer problem,

I have repaired those machines for Eaton here in Mexico but it always
was with their drawings or duplication of parts. And also I have made
undersized48 ID cylinders for their air, not steam, operated forges,
their guides and so on. But I would need data to even quote. I can machine
pieces up to 8 tons in weight.
If you come up with something contact me at FAX: 011-52-55-5576-9500.
It's hard for me to believe that a machine just stops. There had to
be some sort of notice. So tear the machine apart and you will find a worn
out
(dissapeared) key or something like that. There's an obvious reason for
every mal function in a mechanical machine. Electronics are something else.

 Hello,

 Drop what?

Hoping there is a resource here that can help, even though it's a bit off
topic. Would you believe we have an automatic, Standard No.5 Drop Hammer
that just quit working? (We also use a No.1 and a No.3 that continue to
 bang away.)

I think it's in the clutch mechanism but am not really sure.
Unfortunately
there isn't much available about these darn things. Any of you old guys
(with all due respect) know of a contact point for parts?

Also, know of anyone one in Northern Cal that would even know how to pull
one apart and put it back together? I am at a loss. The last time we
 bought parts was in 1968.

Seems like I remember hearing that some company in Rhode Island purchased
the patterns and rights to the name and actually was selling reconditioned
drops. Can't seem to find them either.

(Thanks for indulging me on this one Dave.)
