I'll update the plan and website later, but for now, the outstanding

Whaoou ... 3 tickets for tiles on 5 left ;-). I have mark one as
duplicate, change a second as an enhancement, and still need to solve
the 3rd. I will do it asap.
Now, there is only 3 tickets remaining.

OK, we're back down to two. =:0)

Cedric, I can't quite follow the thread on this one myself. Does it look
like Redding's patch would help (at least for now). Lavy seems to say it
doesn't work for him.

http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=18066

Arron (or Antoni). Does it seem like there would be an easy patch here?
Would specifying the type be a reasonable workaround? -- at least until
we can fix it properly in the next iteration.

If we can swat these two, we might be able to roll out RC2.

I've been somewhat absent from here for a while, primarily because I'm
working on getting FileUpload into shape. In the process of addressing a
couple of issues over there, I stumbled across a couple more that have
required some larger changes, and I'm trying to get those polished off.

I mention this here because the changes to FileUpload involve deprecating
some methods that Struts calls in the very short term, and eliminating them
from the FileUpload 1.0 Final release. My plan is to complete the FileUpload
changes within a few days, update Struts to not use the deprecated methods,
and submit equivalent patches against Tomcat 5 and Turbine, which also use
FileUpload. At that point, I intend to go for FileUpload 1.0 Beta 2, then
remove the deprecated methods, go for RC1 and then Final, all in as short a
period as I can push it through.

Comments welcome.

Re: [STP] RC1 Release Plan

2003-03-18 Thread David Graham
Why not just go to RC1 instead of beta 2?

On a related topic, it looks like Validator has cleared all the bugs for a
1.0.2 release. I think we could release Struts 1.1 RC2 before any final
releases of FileUpload and Validator just to see what bugs (if any) get
reported on those components. Then, we can release FileUpload and Validator
final before Struts 1.1 final.

Is anyone working on Commons DBCP, Pool, or Logging?

2003-03-18 Thread Martin Cooper

"David Graham" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote in message

The problem is that some methods need to be removed before 1.0 Final. If the
next milestone is RC1, then the methods need to be removed immediately,
otherwise it's not a true release candidate. That, in turn, implies that
there is no milestone in which they are deprecated. Since most, if not all,
current users of the package will use at least one of these methods, it
seems rather rude to just zap them without warning, so the idea is to
deprecate them in Beta 2 and remove them in RC1.

I agree that we can release Struts RC2 before all our dependencies are
final. I do, however, want to make sure that RC2 includes the changes to
account for the FileUpload methods that are going away. Otherwise Struts RC2
wouldn't be a true release candidate either.
