Re: [ANNOUNCE] Struts Console v1.10

2002-05-22 Thread Cedric Dumoulin

  Hello James,

I have downloaded the previous version, and right now the latest one.
I am interested to provide something similar to help Tiles design. Preferably
in cooperation with existing tools like struts console ;-). Is there any plan to
support Tiles ? If not, I am interested to try to provide it, and if possible in
collaboration with your console. Is it possible to access / obtain sources of
your console ? What about your merge with JForm (from a old mail), or putting
the source on a cvs server ?

  Cedric

This release adds more support for 1.1 config files
and updates some of the help documentation.

 Changes with Struts Console v1.10

*) Added ability to specify new config file version
in stand-alone app when creating new config files
  from scratch.

*) Added support for controller element in 1.1
  config files.

*) Removed unnecessary duplicate of JDOM classes
 from
  console.jar thus making downloads smaller.

   *) Updated help/installation documentation.

I'm just about to try out the console, so I have no comments (yet! :-) on the
functionality, but can I ask that you please put an extra directory level in the zip
file so that when I unzip it, it goes into a directory under the current directory
that I am in? All the Jakarta packages, including struts, expand out into a
sub-directory.

Current result of unzipping:

./CHANGES
./README
./bin/*
./docs/*
./lib/*
./license/*

Suggested result of unzipping:

./struts-console-1.10/CHANGES
./struts-console-1.10/README
./struts-console-1.10/bin/*
./struts-console-1.10/docs/*
./struts-console-1.10/lib/*

Sounds fair enough. I was on the fence about this,
because some people like to dictate their own
destination directory instead of being *stuck* with
the archive's chosen directory. However, I think
you're right that most would probably prefer that I
follow the Jakarta standard.

I'll reupload the zip file and use this convention in
the future. Thanks for your feedback.

Enjoy the tool...

James,
I followed the instructions for plugging the tool into JBUILDER 5.
However, dont have any instructions to use the tool as a Plug in.

Do I have to open the struts-config.xml file in JBUILDER when the struts console
will appear as a tab. I dont see that happening. Anything else I
need to do?

Further instructions of using it in JBUILDER 5 and other
IDEs would also help. The only instructions now are what jars to move
where.

I always encourage feedback and suggestions for new
functionality and consider all ideas.

Actually, I'm a UNIX/Linux person myself, but opted
for the zip format since you can use it on many
platforms. I just checked my hosting account and I
have room to start hosting two versions. I'll put a
